Thank you for reviewing my article! I'm not sure where best to reply but I've suggested a new hook on the submission page and I'll also make a note on your talk page. It's a shame to give up on the hook about chicken bones being tossed into the fountain but I'm sure the segment from the Australian Broadcasting Commission was illegally uploaded to YouTube. I did not know that was a rule so thank you for telling me. [[User:Peter4Truth|Peter4Truth]] ([[User talk:Peter4Truth#top|talk]]) 10:42, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Arapaima's answer on La Pérouse

( please don't forget the acute accent "é" , accents add so much spice to our french language that at 63 , and after about 10 years studies in my youth , I don't myself have yet completely mastered their use...) . Sorry I didn't answer you sooner , but in France we recover from our summer sleep only at the end of September . Besides , actually my wife & me are utterly spent after a month trying to run in our little grandsons' wake ...

What I would infer from the phrase you quote : that La Pérouse taught ( to de Lesseps , I think ) , all he knew about sailing : steering , calculating and esteeming his position , predicting the weather , managing a ship from cooks-galley to top-mast knob , and above all leading a crew of 200 or 300 men ( many of them on board against their will ) in the promiscuity of a tight and incomfortable space ... And also predict the impredictable behavior of natives suddenly seeing dainty white "long pigs" land , and scurry around on their island , humping their women and cutting their trees to get the fruit easily without climbing ...

Thank you again for supplying me the backbone of " Voyage du Commodore Anson " , which ( through so many ulterior additions , modifications & alterations it profited of ) has grown & embellished so much that I don't recognize it any more ...

By the way , sorry , but I unfortunately don't know how to manage iconography : I had to be helped to insert my map of Philippines Islands and coast of China , so I can't be of any help to you in that domain . Truly yours , hope you fare well & go on contributing along --Arapaima (talk) 09:07, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
