Pseudohaje is a genus of African elapid snakes, commonly called tree cobras or forest cobras.[1] Their common name is derived from an arboreal life history.[2]

Characteristics

Tree cobras have proportionally larger eye compared to Naja spp. and smaller fangs with less bone structures.[2] Members were formerly categorized as Naja, but anatomical analysis of midbody scale rows distinguished them as a separate taxon.[2]

Species

  • Pseudohaje goldii - Gold's tree cobra (Boulenger, 1895)
  • Pseudohaje nigra - black tree cobra (Günther, 1858)
