Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Gary George Dalton, KCB, BSc, FRAeS, RAF (born 23 April 1954) is Chief of the Air Staff (Designate).

Military career

Educated at the University of Bath, Dalton joined the Royal Air Force in 1973.[1] Dalton was deployed on Operation Jural which involved flying operations over Iraq: he was awarded the Queen's Commendation for Valuable Service in the Air in 1986.[2]

Air Marshal Simon Bryant succeeded Air Marshal Stephen Dalton as the Deputy Commander-in-Chief Personnel and Air Member for Personnel, Royal Air Force Air Command on 1 April 2009.[3]

Future career

He will succeed Air Chief Marshal Sir Glenn Torpy as the next Chief of the Air Staff in July 2009.[4]

Already a Companion of the Order of the Bath (CB),[5] Dalton was appointed Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath (KCB) in the 2009 Birthday Honours.[6]
