Spencer James Smith V (born September 2, 1987) is the drummer for Panic! at the Disco. He is the youngest member in the band.
Early Life
Spencer Smith was born and raised in Summerlin, Nevada. He has two sisters, Crystal and Jackie. He met Ryan Ross at their Catholic high school. When Smith got a drum set for Christmas and Ross a guitar, the two started covering Blink 182 songs together, which lead to them forming a band called "Pet Salamander". [1][2]
Panic! At The Disco
After Brendon Urie joined the band, the members changed the name from "Pet Salamander" to Panic! At the Disco. They sent Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy a link to their PureVolume site through LiveJournal, and he asked them to sign with his Fueled by Ramen imprint label, Decaydance. The band released their first album, A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, on September 27, 2005. It reached #13 on the US Billboard 200, and has sold over 2.2 million copies worldwide. Their follow-up album, Pretty. Odd. was released on March 25, 2008 and debuted at #2 in the US. The band has a DVD/CD out, ...Live in Chicago.[3] The band is currently working on their third album, but will have to do so without Ryan Ross or Jon Walker, who left the band to pursue other things[4], leaving Smith to be the lone founding member in the band.
