Pittsburgh residents will certainly remember Korel's years as a leading light of The 'Burgh's indie rock scene, as co-leader of alt-folk rock sensation "Crisis Car." While maintaining his day job at Hollowood's Music store in McKees Rocks, Korel managed to appear as a guest artist on an enormous list of CDs, steal the show at a fantastic series of singer-songwriter circles, release 2 Crisis Car CDs (still available from CD Baby, both are excellent) and be awarded the title of Pittsburgh's "Artist of the Year" by In Pittsburgh magazine. After such acclaim, it came as no surprise when Korel departed from Western PA for the sunny shores of LA. Pittsburgh's music scene has never been the same. |
