Mukkam Muslim Orphanage or MMO[1] is a well-reputed educational institution, established in 1956 with 22 inmates in, and at present there are more than 1100 inmates and it is one of the largest orphanage in India. Now 28 institutions are functioning under the MMO management. It got National Award in 1982 and 2008 for excellence in child welfare from the Ministry of Women and Child Development awarded by Giani Zail Singh the then President of India, and UPA[2] Chair person Sonia Gandhi respectively.
MMO is set in the valley of the Western Ghats, at Mukkam about 35 kms north east of Calicut city, Kerala, India.
