Conrad Murray grew up in Trinidad. In 1989, he graduated from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. He subsequently completed residency in internal medicine at Loma Linda University in 1992 and fellowship in cardiology at University of Arizona in 1995, followed by fellowship in interventional cardiology[1]. He filed for bankruptcy in 1992,[2] and is reported to have had judgments filed against him or his company totalling over $435,000. [4][5][6]

Murray first met Jackson in Las Vegas when the doctor treated one of the singer’s children. The promoter of Jackson's London concerts said the singer insisted the company hire Murray to accompany him to England. [7]
