Kavali is a small town on the east coast of India in the state of Andhra Pradesh. While not on the seashore itself, there is a beach 7 km from the town. The town also houses the Jawahar Bharati College for higher education.
Kavali in Telugu language means 'patrol'. Udayagiri Raja (king) stationed his army at this town, hence the name Kavali. Kavali is in Nellore district, it is the largest municipality after Nellore in this district. Madras (now known as Chennai) to Nellore railway line and also Grand Trunk road (GT road) running throught the town helped it grow much beyond the Udayagiri.
