Heidi Montag is the upcoming debut album by American reality TV star Heidi Montag. The album was originally to be released in late 2007; however, due to Montag lacking a record deal, the release date had been subsequently postponed. Montag's husband, Spencer Pratt, had confirmed that the album was scheduled to be fully released on July 7, 2009, via her independent recording label, Heidi Montag Records[1]. However, the album was pushed back again for unknown reasons to September 23, 2009. Montag says the album will explore similar genres to those of Madonna, Gwen Stefani, Fergie and Britney Spears. On August 19, 2009, People.com announced that the album will be self-titled and will be released on September 29, 2009.
Production
In February 2007, while being interviewed by Us Magazine about her recent photoshoot for Stuff magazine, Montag was asked if she would like to become a pop star in the future, to which she replied "I am working on my album right now. The sound is going to be very fun, fresh, and sexy. It will be the Pussycat Dolls-meets-Gwen Stefani, with a dose of Fergie. I grew up dancing so there will also be a lot of performing. And a lot of my songs will be very sexy and trashy at the same time."[2] She had a name for the album, Unleashed, but she then changed it to Independent because she thought it wouldn't be appealing to call it Unleashed. It is now known that her album will indeed be self-named, as made evident by People Magazine's website.
On August 16, 2007, Ryan Seacrest premiered "Body Language", an unofficial single from Montag's future debut album, on his KIIS-FM radio show. The song also featured Pratt rapping. Both Montag and Pratt denied the song was intended to be the first single with Pratt stating to Us Weekly that the song, "was something Heidi and I were doing for fun. Never would I rap on her first single!"[3] However, on the released version of "Body Language" in 2009, Spencer is clearly heard rapping at one point in the song. In December 2007, another track by Montag and produced by David Foster entitled "Touch Me" was leaked online.[4] On January 19, 2008, it was confirmed via Montag's official MySpace that her first single, called "Higher", plus a surprise would be released on February 5, 2008. The song received an online-only release on iTunes. Along with the single, the accompanying video shot by then-boyfriend, Spencer Pratt, was also available to purchase. The song and the video received a negative response from websites and readers across the internet, to which Montag responded, "I appreciate people taking the time to write any comment." [5]
Two weeks after the release of "Higher.", the ballad "No More" was leaked online forcing Montag to release it as a promotional single the following month. Like her first single, the track was released to online stores, but unlike "Higher" the promo single received positive comments from the media and public.[6] In June 2008, Montag released two more songs, her first official single titled "Fashion"[7] and "One More Drink."[8] On August 18, 2008, Montag released her third single entitled "Overdosin'".[9] On September 2, 2008, another song recorded by Montag entitled "Party is Wherever I Am", was leaked onto the internet receiving mixed comments from the public.[10]
Montag recently hired the songwriter maverick Cathy Dennis who has penned hits for Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears and Katy Perry.[11]
On April 1, she released her new single "Look How I'm Doing" On-Air with Ryan Seacrest. Soon after, another three tracks, "Your Love Found Me", "Turn Ya Head" and "More Is More", were released to PerezHilton.com.
Heidi performed her first single "Body Language" from her self-titled album 'Heidi Montag' on August 23rd, 2009 on Miss Universe on NBC. Also, a song of Heidi's will be used in the pageant, likely to be "Turn Ya Head" as it was previously mentioned to be included in the pageant as Heidi's performance song. The song will play as the pageant contestants make their walks in their national. Her performance received mixed reactions from critics and fans alike, with blogger Perez Hilton citing the performance as acceptable, giving that it was Montag's stage debut. Heid Pratt has stated that she will soon film a music video for her 1st single "Body Language". "Body Language" will be released onto the radio on September 15, 2009.

Release
In June 2007 Montag revealed that she was expecting the album to be released by spring 2008, but no release date was announced until August 2008 when Montag's then boyfriend Spencer Pratt announced on his MySpace page that the album was ready to be released on November 23, 2008. Pratt also announced that the single Overdosin would be the album's first single, however it was later released on iTunes with no physical release; Montag had decided to remove the song from the album and work on new material, further pushing back the release date.[citation needed]
In February 2009, just a month before its expected release, Montag announced that the album had been renamed The One and would not be released until late spring or early summer 2009. In April 2009 it was announced that it would be released July 12 2009 under the new name Unleashed, after Montag asked fans on twitter what she should name the album, Billy Cashin came up with "Unleashed". She then changed the album name herself again to "Independent", and said that it would be the albums final name, but the title has again changed. The album will now be self-titled. One week later the release was again pushed back, and is currently scheduled for a US release on September 29 2009.[citation needed] According to her Twitter account, Heidi has completed her album on August 9th, 2009 and on August 4th, 2009 did a photo session for her album cover. Heidi's first single "Body Language" was made available on iTunes August 18th, 2009.
Body Language has peaked at #64 on the iTunes Pop Songs chart.
