Shortly after winning silver in Athens, Tom was involved in a motorcycle accident in Colorado City, Texas, where he and teammate Ben Rutledge were enjoying a two-month motorcycle tour of the USA. Herschmiller suffered three chipped vertebrae in his neck as a result of the accident. Herschmiller is a member of the Men's Heavyweight Fours rowing crew that brought home silver from the 2004 Athens Olympics. Tom studied at [[Princeton University]], and is currently studying medicine at the [[University of Sydney]].

Thomas Herschmiller (born April 6, 1978 in Comox, British Columbia) is a Canadian rower. He graduated from Brentwood College School in 1996. He won a gold medal at the 2003 world championships in Milan, Italy and a silver in the same event at the 2004 Summer Olympics.
