Act II: The Father Of Death will be the second album by indie rock band The Protomen, and the follow-up to the band's self-titled debut. The album will also revisit the Mega Man-inspired rock opera concept from the band's first album, and will function as a prequel to the first release, focusing on the relationship between Thomas Light and Albert Wily before Wily's takeover of the city that functions as the story's primary setting.
As of September 1st, the album is available for presale, and its track list, cover art, and full title have been revealed (previously, the band has referred to the album simply as Act II).
Release Of The Breaking Out Demo
On August 25, 2008, at around 2:21 PM EST, a member of the official forums for The Protomen by the name of "NoHeroesLeftInMen" posted a thread containing a link to a 96kbit/s MP3 of the studio version of "Breaking Out" (The link and post has since been removed, but the thread still exists).[1] This was met with much debate as to the identity of the poster. In the end, the band member by the name of Commander made a post stating that it was not a member of the band that had posted this track, and that they had a good idea of how the track got out, appropriate measures were being taken, and rather than having the low-quality MP3 floating around the internet, they released a 192kbit/s MP3 of the demo of "Breaking Out". A day later, "NoHeroesLeftInMen" made another post, describing the manner in which he got the MP3 and apologized to The Protomen for releasing these tracks early.
