Stuart Beck is the nation of Palau's ambassador to the United Nations. He attended Harvard University and later Yale Law School. As a lawyer he helped negotiate the Compact of Free Association which established Palau as an independent nation in 1994. While working with Palau, Beck met his future wife Ebiltulik, a native of Palau, who is the mother of their four children, Emadch, Chip Uchel, Johanna Rois and Sam Demei. For his contributions to the country of Palau, he was granted honorary citizenship, and in 2003 he accepted the post as Palau's first permanent representative to the United Nations.
He was interviewed by Stephen Colbert in 2006 as part of the "Better Know a District" series of The Colbert Report. Since Palau is part of the Coalition of the Willing, this particular segment was known as "Meet an Ally."
He currently lives in Bronxville, NY with his family and their dog, Cleo.
