Hello, there, Mike Peel. I hope I'm writing on the right space. I'm just wondering if your website is only temporarily down? Your photos are stunningly beautiful. I'm planning to use one of your photos in a short non-commercial video on Gurdjieff's teachings. Shall I send you the URL when it's done? Shall I credit your wikipage as well as your webpage just to be safe? Kind regards, Marnie Tunay of Fakirs Canada: http://fakirscanada.spaces.live.com

: Hi. It's always great to see my photos used in ways that I didn't expect - although please don't apply a non-commercial license to the result (it's not compatible with the CC-BY-SA license that my photos are licensed under). If you use my photos, then I'd love to see the result - please send me the URL. I need to update links - I've removed my photo gallery from my website, as I decided there wasn't much point in having it. I upload full resolution images to Wikimedia Commons, so you're best off using those. The standard credit I request is "Mike Peel, http://www.mikepeel.net/" - I'm happy for you to add "via Wikipedia" or "via Wikimedia Commons" to the end of that if you want. Thanks. Hello,

I'm requesting peer review on astronomer [[Nicholas U. Mayall]] in the hopes of making it a [[Wikipedia:Good Article|Good Article]]. Please provide your feedback. Thanks.

: Hi. As you've probably guessed by the length of time it's taken me to reply to this, I'm afraid that I don't really have the time to carry out a full peer review. I've glanced through the article, and it looks great to me - I don't think you'll encounter many problems getting it to Good Article status. Nice work! Hi

Hi Mike,

Sorry our first meeting was not so good lol

It's nice to see someone with some real knowledge on astronomy in here.

I really do have some questions, but can't seem to find answers, so hope you won't mind me asking a few !

One of my trains of thought is concerning your thesis actually, so maybe you can cast some real light on it for me. It's mainly concerning horizons, and the point stated so well in the big bang page. The other part is to do with whether or not there was one or more than one big bang, basically if we are in a multiplicity of bangs, each one limited to its own galaxy. As for the Horizon question, as it rightly states the time taken for the light to reach us is so long that I can't see how we can estimate the weight of matter in the universe/s if we don't know if it's still there or not.

Nice pics from the Hubble deep field, and also the first from CERN LHC although they didn't really get many images out (i think it was 3 - all of collisions with the collimator) before it went kaputnik lol

Nice to meet you and hope it goes well with your studies so we can call you Doc !

Hi again - sorry you are so busy

That makes perfect sense - homogenous and isotropic - I didn't realise it was done on that basis. So I suppose it could be the case that some areas are more or less dense - we'll have to wait till we get proper space travel, and I suspect by that time we probably will be long gone in a volcanic/meteoric/disease event lol

The LHC gave three pics, although I must admit I am confused as to what they are after reading your note. They come from the Images -> Particle Collision Tracks -> LHC, but state "One of the first images from CMS, showing the debris of particles picked up in the detector's calorimeters and muon chambers after the beam was steered into the collimator (tungsten block) at point 5"

Anyway, they are pretty, not at all like the images I am used to seeing of a cloudy bulb with a few tracks on it !

Hope the workload eases - I found the Jodrell bank site v interesting, I was friendly with a local man near my home in Manchester in the 70's, he had a huge great refractor in his garden, and we used it many times, even looking at Jodrell once ! I seem to remember it took about 10 minutes to sight it and get the weights stabilised - wonderful to first see the sun and draw it's spots. Amazing thing.

cheers --Chaosdruid (talk) 23:20, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks and a request

Thanks for signing up at Wikipedia:Peer review/volunteers and for your work doing reviews. It is now just over a year since the last peer review was archived with no repsonse after 14 (or more) days, something we all can be proud of. There is a new Peer review user box to track the backlog (peer reviews at least 4 days old with no substantial response), which can be found here. To include it on your user or talk page, please add {{Wikipedia:Peer review/PRbox}} . Thanks again, and keep up the good work, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:56, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Trudi Canavan Priestess of the White cover.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Trudi Canavan Priestess of the White cover.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:02, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Category:Cheese articles needing references

Please restore this category and talk page, it is supposed to be empty. It is only supposed to be used when an article is marked as needing references. --Jeremy (blah blahI did it!) 05:12, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

My understanding is that the category was "redundant to correctly named" Category:Cheeses articles needing references, as the person who nominated it for speedy deletion said. Is that not the case? Mike Peel (talk) 08:50, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the contribution to WT:Paid editing. I think that it is very important that folks realize what is happening with paid editing services, so a policy on this is quite important. Please don't take this next sentence as a criticism, only a call for input. I noticed on your user page that you might have edited articles related to your workplace. As the proposed policy is currently written, you might be required to post on your user page that you are a paid editor! This might be quite unfortunate. The problem is - how to write the proposed policy so that it prevents what we want to prevent, and how to not discourage editing that we don't want to discourage? i.e. where do we draw the line? Any input at WP:PAID would be very welcome. Thanks again. Smallbones (talk) 13:44, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing this out; I've left a rather lengthy response at WT:Paid editing [1]. Mike Peel (talk) 18:57, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
I responded there as well. Perhaps we were both a little over-dramatic? In any case, my apologies, if this offended you in any way. Smallbones (talk) 19:35, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Just wondering

Are they going to update the spaceflight in 2012, 2013 and 2014? Mickman1234 (talk) 08:09, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

I assume that someone will create the pages at some point. They're linked to from Template:TLS-L, but they're currently red links. I think it's Wikipedia:WikiProject Timeline of spaceflight that keeps an eye on those pages. Mike Peel (talk) 16:49, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

Kind regards, Marnie Tunay of Fakirs Canada: http://fakirscanada.spaces.live.com 68.148.232.179 (talk) 15:42, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks. Nicholas U. Mayall

Hello,

I'm requesting peer review on astronomer Nicholas U. Mayall in the hopes of making it a Good Article. Please provide your feedback. Thanks.

WilliamKF (talk) 21:12, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi. As you've probably guessed by the length of time it's taken me to reply to this, I'm afraid that I don't really have the time to carry out a full peer review. I've glanced through the article, and it looks great to me - I don't think you'll encounter many problems getting it to Good Article status. Nice work! Mike Peel (talk) 16:52, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
