In the background, the plant [[Jupiter]] can be seen. Apl seems to take out a map and Will.i.Am uses a compass like object, both searching for the other members and both set out searching. The scene then shifts to [[Taboo]] who is seen very close to the [[Sun]] in a spacesuit. Will.i.Am is then seen digging the ground of his planets and he finds a dial, which when he rotates, glass like objects int he shape of cube, pyramid etc appear in the front of the members. On touching those objects, all the members turn into [[shooting star]]-like objects and are seen moving in the cosmic sky on the same road.

"Meet Me Halfway"
Song

"Meet Me Halfway" is the third official single and was the third promotional single by Black Eyed Peas, taken from their 5th studio album The E.N.D..[3]

The song has already been getting airplay on the Today Networks Hot30 Countdown in Australia,[4] and also on radio stations across Canada.[5]

Fergie told the Daily Mail that when she was recording her vocals for "Meet Me Halfway", she "transported [herself] back to 1985, when [she] was 10 and saw Madonna in concert for the first time on the Virgin tour. [She] took on [Madonna's] persona in that song as a homage."[6]

The song is used in a promo for DirecTV.

Original release

The song was released as a promotional single, as part of the "Countdown to The E.N.D." where 3 album tracks were released once each week until the release of the album. This song was the final promotional single in the series, the first two (in order of release) were "Imma Be" and "Alive".

Critical reception

Entertainment Weekly writes that "When the group's glitchy future-funk beats, plagiarized shamelessly from Novaspace's 2002 hit single Time After Time sync up with Fergie's unabashedly feminine melodies, as on the sweetly insidious Meet Me Halfway, they find pure Top 40 nirvana.[7] Prefix magazine also gave the song a positive review, stating, “Meet Me Halfway,” is notable mostly for being better than a new -wave-y ballad by the Black Eyed Peas has any right to be.[8]

Music video

The music video has been confirmed by will.i.am to be directed by Mathew Cullen and Mark Kudsi (directors of "Boom Boom Pow"). "This is a very different type of video ... 'Boom Boom Pow' was very futuristic and 'I Gotta Feeling' had a party vibe, but this is more artistic video. It's very arty." The video was released onto the iTunes Music store on October 13, 2009. The video feautures Fergie in some sort of jungle, Will.I.Am aboard an elephant, Taboo as an astronaut nearing the sun and Apl in what looks like a sandy planet.[9] Also will.i.am announced that they will release 2 versions of the video, one will be the official and the other one will be for the fans, this last one being very personal."[10]

The video opens on a road in the middle of a desert panning up to the cosmic sky which shifts to scenes of each of the members singing in different locations of space: Fergie lies in the middle of a lush, green forest, apl.de.ap levitates on a desert planet in nomadic clothing, will.i.am rides an elephant on a moon of Jupiter, and Taboo glides around the Sun in a spacesuit. Apl takes out a map and will.i.am uses a compass to search for a path to the other members. After a while, will.i.am finds a dial which reveals gateways for each of the members to go through. All the members use the gateway, turn into shooting stars, and land on the planet with the road in the middle of the desert.

Charts

The song debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at #75 for the week ending October 3, 2009 and jumped to #47 the next week. It has so far peaked at #2 in Australia making it the third single from The E.N.D to make the top 5 there.
