'''About Jonathan Fisher QC'''
Jonathan Fisher QC is a barrister in Chambers at 23 Essex Street, London and leads its Financial Crime Team.

He has advised and represented clients (unidentified for confidential reasons) in sensitive cases involving anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing compliance, corruption, EC customs duties and tax investigation issues.

A financial crime case involves special skills and experience:

* painstaking attention to factual detail
* ability to grapple with complex legal points
* an understanding of commercial and property issues
* familiarity with cross-border processes

With his broad experience as a common lawyer working on civil and criminal cases, together with his specialist knowledge in financial crime cases, Jonathan is able to offer a holistic service. He is happy to be instructed without a junior barrister in appropriate cases.

Jonathan frequently presents papers on different aspects of fraud and financial crime and is often approached by the media for his views.

'''Public Access'''
Jonathan is permitted by the Bar Council to accept instructions directly from a member of the public where the instruction of a solicitor would be unnecessary and would give rise to additional cost.

This is appropriate where advice on the law, or how the law applies in particular circumstances, is required. Jonathan is able to draft documents and advise on any steps which need to be taken.

There are occasions where Jonathan can be instructed directly to represent a person in Court or before a tribunal. Jonathan can also be instructed directly by a member of the public where there is an appeal from a decision of a Court of tribunal.

There will be other cases where Jonathan may consider that it is necessary to instruct a solicitor or accountant to work alongside him, and if this situation arises Jonathan will suggest a firm of solicitors or accountants suitable for the task.

In order to determine whether it is best for instructions to be accepted directly, Jonathan is happy to hold an initial meeting or telephone discussion without any charge.

'''Lecturing'''
In addition to professional practice, Jonathan is a visiting professor at the London School of Economics where he teaches Corporate and Financial Crime on the LLM programme.

The course focuses on crime committed within the commercial and business environment, with particular emphasis on financial crime.

In addition, Jonathan participates in the Law and Financial Markets Project. The Project aims to bridge the gap between lawyers in the commercial world and those in academic institutions.

The Government's Research Assessment Exercise 2008 rated LSE’s Law Department first place nationally. Regarded as one of the most selective and prestigious universities in the world today, LSE has the most international student body of any university in the world today.

Between 2003 and 2006 Jonathan was a visiting professor at Cass Business School where he lectured on financial services regulation and investor protection law. Previously he lectured at City University (and subsequently Cass Business School) as a visiting fellow since 1985. Jonathan began his academic career in 1980 when he worked full-time as a lecturer at the Anglia Ruskin University (then the Chelmer Institute) teaching Jurisprudence and English Legal System.

Jonathan is listed as a leading academic lawyer in Who's Who in Law Directory (Academic Keys).
