Their first settlement in Botswana was in a small village North-East of Botswana called Senyawe, where they lived on a hill. To this day, when you go to Senyawe village, you will find Batalaote there. In search for greener pastures, inter-tribal marriage and because of inter-tribal wars they were divided. That is why you will find some Batalaote in [[Serowe]], [[Mmadinare]], [[Makaleng]], [[Bobirwa]].
