Ponaganset High School' is a school of the Foster-Glocester School District, located in North Scituate, Rhode Island (in Providence County). The majority of high school students live in the rural towns of Foster, Rhode Island and Glocester, Rhode Island. This is a public high school, known for its music program, as well as its agricultural and automotive specialties. The official nickname of the school's athletic teams is the Chieftains. The school has gained notoriety in RI for having a seemingly disproportionate number of winter weather-related cancellations each year. The cancellations stem from the rural layout and high-altitude terrain of the two towns; inclement weather conditions make the area more dangerous to travel in car or school bus compared to the rest of Rhode Island's coastal, suburban and urban areas.
