I think it's time to accept a nomination. Wikipedia has suffered for long enough without your skills as an admin :) Please say yes. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 12:05, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks very much MSGJ; for now, suffice to say that I'm very flattered in your confidence. I am currently on holiday, and not on wikipedia as much as normal - but I assure you that I will give your suggestion due consideration, and will respond further ASAP. Thanks again, Chzz ► 22:59, 22 September 2009 (UTC)

- MSGJ, I certainly haven't forgotten about this; I am currently working on lots of other stuff - I hope to 'clear the decks' soon. I don't want to mess you around...please, rest-assured, I will respond further as soon as I have time. Thanks for your patience, Chzz ► 20:41, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

- Well, hopefully it won't come to that. Would you mind if I at least made a start on the nomination page? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 18:24, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

- Gah, there is no escape! \o/
- MSGJ, if you still wish to arm me with a mop and inflict me on the community, please go ahead and write it up; please give me a shout before transcluding though - but I don't anticipate messing you around any further; apologies for the delays - I hoped to clear things, and I have done so to a reasonable extent. Let's face it, my 'to do' list and talkpage is unlikely to ever be quiet... I don't suppose there is ever an optimum time for these things. I'm not sure about who wants to co-nom or whatever; it doesn't bother me. Thank you very much for your patience. Chzz ► 22:26, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
- I'm working on the nomination statement now. A few points:
- I notice that you haven't set your gender in your preferences. Is this intentional? It's fine if you don't wish to divulge it, I'm just finding it a bit awkward not knowing which pronoun to use! I suppose I could use {{genderneutral}} as OlEnglish did ...
- Unfortunately, the circumstances of your block will have to be explained. I know, it's ridiculous that a small incident right at the beginning of your editting career should have any significance. The way I have seen this tackled before, and how I suggest that you do it, is to ask yourself a question (as Question 4 after the compulsory questions) and then answer it. I think that the explanation you gave at [[Wikipedia talk:Edit filter] would be fine, and I doubt the incident will have much effect anyway.
- I would be quite happy if someone would like to conominate, especially if they are able to comment in more detail about your activities in an area I am not familiar with. But I don't think it will make much difference to be honest; you'll sail through.

- Gender - I like the air of mystery! Actually, it's because a) I like that Wikipedia editors can choose to remain anonymous if they wish, and b) To be honest, it's a bit of a laugh, as various people have made guesses both ways. If it's easier grammatically, you can go with either 'he' or 'she', I don't mind.
- Block - OK, I will do that
- Co-nom - if anyone reading this wishes to jump in, feel free
MSGJ - I'll add my bits and pieces ASAP, then. Once I think it's ready, should I transclude it myself, or shall I give you a shout? Chzz ► 20:20, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
- I've neutralised the gender, but I'm not convinced. It upsets the flow of the statement I think. I can transclude it yourself or I can do it, whichever you prefer. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 20:38, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
- OK - and, if you prefer, just go with 'he' - It's really not a big deal; for the sake of the mystery, I won't confirm either way, but I'm not the type of person who is offended by people choosing to use 'he' for an 'unknown gender'. Chzz ► 20:44, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

Epstein Eagle Mascot/Crest
Chzz,
Could you please add the following Eagle mascot image to the left side of the page (opposite the school image or reverse the order if you feel it is more appropriate for school to be on the left and the Eagel mascot crest/logo on right) near the history section of The Epstein School article as well as the text below:
Epstein_Eagle_Mascot_Crest_logo_wiki.jpg (164 × 170 pixels, file size: 9 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)
Please add the following text to the end of the history section:
The school's mascot is the Eagle, as represented by the Epstein Eagle crest.
Thanks Clou2epstein (talk) 01:02, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Before I move Forward
Chzz, You have been so helpful. I am going to be requesting translation of the page in Hebrew to create a page on the Israel wiki page. First, before I move forward, do you have any suggestions or reccommendations? Second, once I have the text in Hebrew, I can place it on the talk page you created for me. Is that what you would like?
Lastly I still have a Hebrew graphic that I also would like to add. I will get back to you on that soon. Clou2epstein (talk) 17:24, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
Thank you Chzz,
I Messed-Up Please Help
I went to upload the bilingual graphic that I told you about and accidentally uploaded the wrong version...and was unable to find how to delete it. I meant to upload the second version I uploaded. Can the first version be deleted and can the second one be added to the bilingual curriculum section of The Epstein School page?
This is the file to delete:
With My Apologies,
Clou2epstein (talk) 18:24, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
- Re. translation - it would be best to do this on the Hebrew Wikipedia, and the person translating it should have their own account; it's important not to share accounts.
- Probably the best thing for them to do is to create a user subpage on the Hebrew Wikipedia, and for them and you to work on it there. To do that, they could log into the Hebrew Wikipedia, and work on the translation there. Once it is ready to go live, it could be moved to their live area. I can't really help much with that side of things, because I don't speak the language - you'd need to get help on that wiki instead. It should be easy enough; the only really important thing is, that on the discussion page of the article (one Hebrew Wikipedia), you need to state that it has been translated from the English version, and provide a link, which should be in the format [[w:en:The Epstein School]] - this is to comply with the licence requirements, ie it's fine to copy Wiki material, but you have to give credit to the authors - a link back to the original, which has the history iof editors, fulfills that requirement.
- Re. file -
I see that you've tagged it for speedy deletion, and that should be fine; it might help if you edit it (File:Celebration of the Arts-bilingual curriculum-October 2009-wiki-300px.png), and give the reason, in place of the current text which says "reason for deletion" - just say why you want it deleting, and that should be fine.- Correction: Sorry, I see now that you've actually uploaded the newer version - that will replace the older one, so there is no need to delete the older file; it's fine. I'll add it to the article.
- I hope that answers; if you have any further questions, please ask. Cheers, Chzz ► 17:00, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
Reply Ok...thank you Chzz for the translation guidance and the image assistance. I see that it is up...looks great. I was not sure if I handled the pic error correctly; I thought the error image needed to be deleted and replaced with new. You have been a fabulous resource and very helpful guide. I can't thank you enough. I have now requested re-evaluation/review and believe that the improvements made to the page are significant. With my continued appreciation for your assistance. Clou2epstein (talk) 17:36, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
Follow-up Actually I just looked again and noticed that the second image listed is now the same as the first. the second image uploaded was a jpg ...not a png. It was the png that is the wrong version the jpg was the correct one. and the png is on the web page. Maybe I did do something wrong? Please advise. Clou2epstein (talk) 17:46, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
follow-up to my follow-up Looking at it again, while the image is labeled the same it doesn't appear to be the same...I think it is fine and there is not an issue. My apologies. Disregard prior follow-up unless you think there is an issue I am unaware of. Clou2epstein (talk) 17:54, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
Clou2epstein (talk) 17:54, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- OK then - ignoring :-)
- Both PNG and JPEG are fine; generally, upload the highest possible version - the mediawiki software takes care of thumbnailing etc. Cheers, Chzz ► 18:06, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

- No problems at all! Wikipedia is all about helping each other out; please ask anything, at any time.
- One tip - please start using the 'edit summary' every time you edit. Look at this, compared to, for example, this - notice how the edit summaries, in brackets, help us to see what was changed and why. I hope that this will demonstrate why it is important to always fill in the edit summary.
- I am really, genuinely pleased to see the article improve - I wish you the very best of luck with it, and please don't hesitate to ask for help at any time. Chzz ► 01:51, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
More help from the expert
Hi Chzz, I think I opened a can of worms with my attempts to bring some uniformity to the capitalization on several religion articles. I made some changes to one article, and apparently raised the ire of an editor who must have been the caretaker (wars have been fought over religion). He probably went to my contributions page, and saw that I had done many edits to the article Johannes Maas (missionary), a religious leader whose career I have followed in my travels in India and Thailand. He previously had made no edits to the article. He then nominated the article for deletion, and apparently got 2 of his co-editors to post delete notes (who also made no edits to the Maas article and probably never looked at it before). This looks like a revenge move. I am not sure how the process works, but two others besides me voted to keep. I would like to see the article stay. I will continue to add more notability items as I can discover them. There are many other articles about purely local religious leaders which have remained for years. Would you please look into the matter, and if you could recommend a keep, I would appreciate it. Thanks again for being my favorite editor, and for being there when I need your sage advice. R/T-รัก-ไทย (talk) 07:30, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, unfortunately, this does happen a lot - see WP:POINT. Having said that, I advise you to be very careful about WP:CANVASS - please read that with care.
- The best way to deal with it is to simply fix up the article - if that is possible, and if the person is indeed notable, it should be easy enough to establish that by adding a few good references - though with this type of article you might need to do some digging. Books would be ideal.
- It looks to me like it will be OK, but try to use policy-based reasoning; "The subject meets the notability guidelines because there is significant coverage in these reliable sources; [1] [2] [3]" - that sort of thing.
- I think it should be OK, regardless; if there is no clear consensus, then it defaults to a 'keep'.
- Even if it is deleted, it doesn't matter - it could be restored to user space and fixed up later - in other words, don't panic, there is no deadline.
- Try not to take it personally, and instead just consider it another opportunity to improve Wikipedia; let me know if I can help further. I won't actually dive into the debate itself, for the reasons mentioned. Keep up the good work. Cheers, Chzz ► 17:40, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks, Chzz. You are the only one with whom I discussed this. Since there is no consensus, the article might stay. Possibly there might be others who see the delete notice and vote to keep. Thanks again for your help. You are the best. R/T-รัก-ไทย (talk) 00:05, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
image issue
Chzz,
Someone placed a permission deletion template on the image: I thought I had given permission when I set it up to begin with...but anyway, I did send an email anyway to re-confirm. Can you please remove the template? http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Celebration_of_the_Arts-bilingual_curriculum-October_2009-wiki-300px.png
Thanks,
Clou2epstein (talk) 00:35, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- I will mark it as 'awaiting an email'. Please could you tell me either the email address that it was sent from, or the subject line? Then I can try to track it down. Thanks, Chzz ► 00:39, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
Subject line is: permission granted

Would you check my note on this talk page?
I would like to avert a problem, and I hope you can help. Basically, I foresee an edit war perhaps due to lack of familiarity with Wiki policies by the person who made deletions and very negative and unfounded assumptions. Perhaps you can put a word in? This is the talk page. Talk:David B. Rivkin Sorry I could not explain the problems more briefly, but there were 5 edits to discuss. Thanks in advance! 64.38.197.206 (talk) 18:35, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- Re. Alan Grayson
- Firstly, please, get yourself a username. There are lots of benefits, it's free and easy, so create an account
- Secondly, please familiarise yourself with the principle of WP:BRD - change things, and if people disagree, discuss them For example your edits to Alan Grayson on 16 Oct to were undone here, with the edit summary, You need to discuss on talk page - so, talk to the other editors; discuss it, on Talk:Alan_Grayson. Try to reach a WP:CONSENSUS, and if you have trouble. see WP:DISPUTE.
- Thank you for helping improve Wikipedia; I assure you that negative unsourced information on biographies of living people is treated with special care.
- Hope to see you soon, with a user name. Cheers, Chzz ► 02:12, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
Artis the Spoonman
Hi Chzz.
I have been told that if I want to make the article better, it needs to have plenty of reliable sources. User:Drmies says that United-Mutations is not a reliable source. Are you able to tell me which of the sources I have used in the article are reliable sources? Thank you again.--Spoon Maniac (talk) 19:22, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
And yes, I know about WP:RS.--Spoon Maniac (talk) 19:23, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- First point - please start to fill in the Edit summary, every time you edit. If you look at the history of the article here, you will see why.

Zer01: The art and technology network
Hi Chzz,
Thanks for your help on the article Zer01: The art and technology network. I will try to make it more neutral. Will it stay there in the process or be deleted? Any idea of how long can an article stay on wikipedia if it's in the process of improving itself?
Thanks, manasmom —Preceding unsigned comment added by Manasmom (talk • contribs) 02:12, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- The article is not currently marked for deletion. There are three ways that an article could be deleted;
- Speedy deletion - articles which are clearly unsutiable may be deleted immediately. This is only used in clear cases. The article, as it is, might fit the category Unambiguous advertising or promotion - Pages that are exclusively promotional, and would need to be fundamentally rewritten to become encyclopedic.. If tagged as such, and if an administrator agreed, it would be deleted instantly.
- Proposed deletion - if someone considers that the article does not meet requirements, they can propose that it is deleted; if this tag remains in place for 7 days without anyone removing it, it can be deleted. Anyone can remove such a tag, but users are encouraged not to remove the tag unless they fix the issues addressed.
- Deletion discussions - in this case, the article is discussed by any Wikipedians for 7 days, and the decision on whether to delete it or not is based on consensus and policy/guidelines, such as the notability guideline.
- For information on this, see Wikipedia:Deletion policy. Please note that the above is just "for your information" - at the time of writing, the article has not been nominated for any of these.
- I recommend that, first, you go through the article and remove anything that is clearly not neutral, for example;
Zero1, the Art and Technology Network is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring culture at the edge of art and technology. The organization convenes artists and technologists, presents their collaborative efforts, sponsors artistic initiatives, and exhibits the resulting work to the public. ZER01 is the producer of 01SJ Biennial, a showcase for international groundbreaking installations, interactive performances and new cinema.
- I would also suggest removing the list of 'aims', and the bulk of the 'history', if it cannot be referenced to reliable sources.
- This will of course result in a much shorter article, but then, if possible, you could add back facts from genuinely independent reliable sources, such as newspapers, published magazines, news websites, or other verifiable references.
- I hope that this helps; please ask if you need more help at any time. Best of luck, Chzz ► 06:37, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
Your removal of my comments from another user's talk page
You removed the COI notice I placed on CatchyJ's talk page, in the guise of "archiving" it, about an hour after I placed it there. The notice was legitimate; the user in question has an edit history that consists almost entirely of restoring, despite objections from multiple longtime editors, promotional content originally added by an SPA claiming to represent the article subject. Your unexplained action appears to be completely inappropriate. Hullaballoo Wolfowitz (talk) 16:25, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- The new user asked for my help, asking if it was OK to remove a notice if they thought that it was an incorrect claim. I suggested that, although of course they are free to edit their own talk page in any way, the better 'solution' would be to add a response, and then move it into an archive, rather than deleting it. I therefore guided them through 'how to respond', which they did. I added an archive, and archived the comment.
- The user has only made 33 edits in total, so I was assuming good faith and helping them the best way I knew how. I 'explained my actions' in the edit summaries [33].
Chzz ► 16:53, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- I think your advice was misguided, and your willingness to assume the user's good faith in the face of much conflicting evidence was misplaced. Note, for example, that the user had already removed Dismas's entirely appropriate warnings from the talk page without explanation. Rather than a "newbie" user, I think it's much more likely that we're dealing with a publicist who's skilled enough to, at first glance, carry off an impersonation of a disinterested user. But it's really remarkable that someone who claimed to have written a "thesis" about Basil using the resources of a major library somehow can't write a Wikipedia article with few references beyond IMDB, Basil's website, and Basil's publicist's website. Indeed, if you look over the publicist site bio of Basil, it looks like everything the user has added comes from that site -- sometimes verbatim.
