A remake of the original series from the 1980s. I knew a few people who were huge fans, there was an annual convention where it was filmed and the people every year ended up vomitting. I blame the turkey they served. Something wasn't right about that turkey, throw it out. When I went to the convention, they went all out, ecspecially with the costumes (I can't tell you how many people were dressed as Mike Brady; t-shirt, jacket, jeans, Alice.) A funnier moment, sitting for dinner, around Pizza Hut good stuff, and he just starts talking about the V series and this one kid was like DUDE! WHAT THE **** ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? Do you know I'm trying to have a slice of the hut. Didn't agree with him, I think he vomitted after that. Then there was the movie and the fans didn't like it nearly as much, then the TV series, which again, didn't go over so well with the fans. I mean come on, they had to mess with the continuity, many sci-fi fans were peeved about when they redid Battle Star Galactica. Who can blame them for being skeptical about this series? First off, the director, Scott Peters, said that elements from the original series he was gonna keep in, the red jumpsuits (even though they were orange) they're black in the new series. The hamster scene (HELLO! It was a guinea pig!). Where's this series gonna go? Will it ruin the series like Clone Wars ruined Star Wars? Yes. I remember back in elementary school, kids often got picked on for liking V. It was either like V or hang by your underwear on the flag pole, salute your shorts, you're gonna be missing V tonight! What's better than one V? TWO! What do you think a W is? It's two Vs, yet it's called a double "U"! Tom Bergeron and the Fab Five, you ever notice the Fab Five has been on every episode since the first one they appeared in, it's like they won't leave the studio or something, probably cuz they're sick of having peanuts thrown at them in the boxing ring. POW! Get up, Donald Duck, it's just a few feathers! Does Tom Bergeron actually like the Fab Five, or does he just pal around with them cuz the writers tell him to? Maybe they have verbal arguments during the commercial breaks, and when show comes back on, they pal around again as if they were the best of friends. Mickey introduces the next clip, without Begeron's consent. After the clip, you can hear Bergeron say, "Hey! This is my show you oversized rat!" They soon cut to a commercial before the quarrel could begin. And when the show comes back on, they pal around again as if they were the best of friends. But this changed on that faithful episode in 06' when Goofy (supposed leader of the fab five) gave Bergeron an atomic wedgie right in front of the live audience. AFV then went on hiatus after this episode, as Tom demanded more money since his fresh bloomers were soiled by the mute Goofy. Since ABC and Major Tom couldn't come to an agreement, the 5th season of AFV was hosted by none other than the fab five. A season and a half later, Bergeron grew jealous of the fab five's success, so in episode 186, Tom came down from the studio audience and gave a friendly shove in the rear to Goofy, and then started to host the show as if he never left. As Mickey's sweetcheeks and his dog silenced the crowd, saying they weren't allowed to laugh here. That's why V is still relevant in today's society, they just want those scientists to shut up, or the rest of the world will know their lizards in spandex. Y'know when that series first came on I said, there's no way the Vistors are gonna be peaceful. Nope. There's gotta be a catch, they're up to something. Then the kids were spray painted the posters, and old man comes up and says NO! If you are going to do that, do it right. I'll show you. Then he takes his hands and together they spray paint a big ass V on the poster. You understand? For victory! huh? Go tell you're friends. Nah we'll stick with the moustaches if it's all the same to you, Rabbi. There were so many hip hop songs inspired by V and a little diddy like this. Yo listen up, V the series sucks, it's a waste of gas, looking at Robert Maxwell sitting on his anthropology books-ASS! Me, I don't like the movie, I'm not telling no lies, Sleestaks the one side, and Enik's the other. So you can see, that was easy, I'm not a nerd! So yeah, that'll get you beat up if you sang that on the kickball court. Remember Game Ruiners? Course you do, you'd kick the ball down the hill and take a really long time retreiving it. Whoops, I accidently kicked it again, gimmie a moment, I'll get the ball eventually. Ho ho, fellas, this is a tricky ball indeed! Is someone moving it via remote control? It just wants to allude my grasp. However, once I do retreive it we can continue our game! So this is I how find out about the new series, I'm picking peices of popcorn out of my teeth, and I look at the screen and there's this big spaceship, I'm like oh boy, I bet this is one of those sexist deoderant commercials! The underside of the ship is a huge TV screen and woman on screen says Did you know ABC airing the V remake this Tuesday? What does V for Vendetta have to do with spaceships? And then I uttered, "Oh! I'm a retard!" because I realized that the V did in fact not stand for Vendetta. If you're gonna do it, do it right. Then I dug through the toy box, searching for a toy UFO to reenact the commercial to everyone that didn't care. Look, it's the Visitors, pretend they're real! What are you doing? Don't write TITANIC on the hull of my UFO toy with a black marker. My greasy theater popcorn fingers smudge the letters, great! I bet the real Titanic didn't have smudged letters. I'll just wipe the smudged part with my sleeve-damn, DAMMIT! Now the A is barely legible. Hold on, maybe she brought the marker with her. Did you bring the marker? You didn't? Dammit, well my V UFO's Titanic is all smudged up, thankyou, grease fingers! I'll just wipe it all off. There! Cool. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.88.156.181 (talk) 03:33, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

Just because americans awaken doesn't mean the world does. The spaceships must appear during daytime in several countries if they appear simultaneously - thus, these inhabitants do not "awaken" to see them. CapnZapp (talk) 19:41, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dude... seriously? Where in the article does it say that the Visitors show up nightside in North America? For all you know, they'll depict the Visitors' ships arriving at four in the afternoon New York time. "The world awakens..." is an expressive, not literal phrase. Relax. If "the world awakens" is insufficiently global (and I don't think it's really important enough to worry about), it's because it doesn't include America. - Laterensis (talk) 10:00, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cast

Does anyone know if any of the original cast from the 1984 series will appear in the remake? --Mikecraig (talk) 23:14, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

So far, none of them have been announced as appearing.— TAnthonyTalk 00:09, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy

There has been some discussion that right wing subtext may permeate the show. It certainly appears that way from the trailers. This Salon article describes it fairly accurately, though showing people subtext is hard enough when they are unbiased about it. When they are biased against it, well...there will be a discussion I suppose. Still, this isn't exactly subtle. --67.149.196.50 (talk) 01:12, 24 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

We should probably watch the show first. The original TV miniseries painted the Visitors as Fascists (which they were). In news and entertainment media, fascists usually equal "right-wingers" (a highly debateable point). We'll have to see how the new show plays that out. But personally, I hope I'm wrong - a little right-wing bias in entertainment TV is so rare as it is! It would be refreshing! Btw, the Salon piece appears to be opinion/commentary, and is not a reliable source beyond quoting the author's opinion. Also, all the concepts presented in the quotes from the series were there in the original also. It's not the same script, obviously, but that's as it should be. - BilCat (talk) 02:06, 24 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
