Race is a play by David Mamet that will premiere on Broadway in December 2009.

The production, directed by the author, will feature Emmy Award winner James Spader, David Alan Grier, Kerry Washington, and Richard Thomas. It will feature scenic design by Tony Award winner Santo Loquasto, lighting design by Tony Award winner Brian MacDevitt and costume design by SNL alum and current 30 Rock designer Tom Broecker.

The production is currently slated to begin previews on November 16th, 2009, in preparation for a December 6th opening at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre.

Race follows "three attorneys, two black and one white, offered a chance to defend a white man charged with a crime against a black woman." Mamet has said that the "theme is race and the lies we tell each other on the subject."[1]
