Council of Christian Hospitals (COCH) is the body looking after the four hospitals and the nursing school established by the Canadian Baptist Mission in Andhra Pradesh (A.P.) and Orissa (OR) India.
The registered office of COCH is located in Christian Medical Centre, Pithapuram, East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, India.

Background
The Canadian Baptist Ministries was involved in spreading the Gospel in the northern coastal parts of Andhra Pradesh.[2] By 1874, it began sending Missionaries to India.[3] Apart from Church-related ministries of evangelism and leadership training, there was also the development ministries that included aiding people in agricultural, health and educational development.[4]
Medical missions formed part of the development ministries. In the later half of the nineteenth century, the Missionaries entrusted leadership to their co-partners, the Indians, resulting in the formation of the Convention of Baptist Churches of Northern Circars (CBCNC) which had also Educational, Theological, and Medical Committees. However, it was felt that the Medical Committee be freed from CBCNC and an independent Council for Medical Missions be formed. Hence in 1973,[5] the COCH was formed to take forward the medical ministry of the Canadian Baptist Ministries. However, this resulted in causing acrimony to the CBCNC which de-recognised the COCH[6]

Activities
The Council of the COCH meets once in a year. It has representatives from the four hospitals and nursing school. The Council discusses and makes decisions about policies, budgets and other activities affecting its Hospitals and Nursing School[26]
