I no longer draw for wikipedia but below you can see some of the pieces I created in the two years I spent on the project. My reasons for leaving were numerous but mostly related to the feeling that artwork contributors, including myself, were undervalued by the project. Many of my pieces took tens, even hundreds of hours to create over a long period of time. Looking back, my commitment to the project was huge, and I enjoyed it. On several ocassions my artwork found itself on the front page of wikipedia in the form of featured pictures. Because of this millions of people all over the world saw my artwork, and I'm grateful for the oppourtunities that gave me. |

When it came to my RfA, some users saw a low edit count as a sign of inactivity and a lack of commitment to the project on my part, despite the incredible amount of time I had contributed. Childish as it may be, I felt the work I had contributed was not valued by the project and the process of illustration was entirely misunderstood. |

To this day I feel that the quality of images on wikipedia lags painfully slowly behind the quality of the text. I hope that in time a more sensible image policy will develop and editors will come to appreciate how effective good artwork can be in concert with the text. |
