Speedy deletion nomination of :Eddie James (motorcyclist)
A tag has been placed on :Eddie James (motorcyclist) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding <code>hangon</code> to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. <!-- Template:Db-bio-notice --><!-- Template:Db-csd-notice-custom --> RadioFan (talk) 15:57, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for your note on the new user log. Glad to have you here, and thanks for your contributions. Isomorphic 03:16, 21 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Thanks a lot. I hope to make a significant addition. I've spread the word of Wiki to my regional skeptical group which has its fair share of very intelligent people. I hope some of them pay a visit and stay as well. TimothyPilgrim 03:34, Feb 21, 2004 (UTC)

Is the longer caption at counterfeit better now? --MerovingianTalk 23:58, Mar 18, 2004 (UTC)

That looks a lot better! Do you happen to know which Chicago newspaper it was though? TimothyPilgrim 14:19, Mar 22, 2004 (UTC)

This is a test for myself. TimothyPilgrim 19:23, Mar 22, 2004 (UTC)

You may not want to add a link to the user name that links to the main namespace - user pages are User:username and not username. Thanks Dysprosia 12:27, 26 Apr 2004 (UTC)

For which edit? TimothyPilgrim 12:48, Apr 26, 2004 (UTC)
I fixed it here - it should be apparent [1] Dysprosia 22:30, 26 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Yup. I see it now. Thanks. TimothyPilgrim 12:18, Apr 28, 2004 (UTC)

Lord Love a Duck

Google lord-love-a-duck and you'll get a lot of comments and opinions. I don't know the origin but if I had to guess I would think it was a Victorian era Britishism. The phrase was still fairly current in the 1950s and '60s though not an everyday oath.

I note one site thinks it is a substitute for an obscenity, others tag it an expression of suprise. I agree with the latter, but think it may have originally been one of the myriad of phrases for those who didn't want to use "God's name in vain" or utter a curse. That is, "Lord love a duck, she's a beauty" instead of "I'll be damned, she's a beauty" or "God, what a beauty."

A study of the use of the use of vulgar (in the common sense) language is fascinating. It comes to mind that Dickens, in Great Expectations, has an old and profane sailor exclaiming a then common and potent oath over and over. Dickens (as Pip, the narrator) has the character yelling bitter phrases liberally sprinkled with "bless your eyes" but informs the reader that these weren't really the words the old sea dog was saying. -- Cecropia | Talk 17:18, 6 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Sciatica

Though i was not the one who added acupuncture as the treatment method, but the fact remains it is an effective treatment method. This comes from someone who has seen it first hand. So I dont think that the removal was appropiate. vogon77 02:52, Oct 28, 2004 (UTC)

I've moved this to Talk:Sciatica. TimothyPilgrim 13:05, Oct 28, 2004 (UTC)

liter/litre->L

We've been replacing liter and litre in auto articles with  L to conform with scientific unit standards and to avoid confusion/localization disputes over which form to use. The nbsp looks nicer than just space since it keeps the unit with the number over line breaks... Hope this helps! --SFoskett 19:09, Dec 7, 2004 (UTC)

Article Licensing

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

Done. TimothyPilgrim 14:49, Jan 1, 2005 (UTC)

Do you have those issues? The Sports Car International Top Sports Cars article is missing lots of data. Can you fill it in? Especially the "all time" list! Thanks! --SFoskett 13:16, Mar 8, 2005 (UTC)

Indeed I do. I started buying it last year, starting with the Best of the 1970's issue. I can work on that article no problem. TimothyPilgrim 13:38, Mar 8, 2005 (UTC)

Would you look over the changes I've made and fix any gaffes? --Wetman 01:11, 21 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm curious - why remove the description of the body-plan and the change from Devonian? I think those are good facts to include. TimothyPilgrim 16:50, August 22, 2005 (UTC)

Wikimedia Canada

Hi there! I'd like to invite you to explore Wikimedia Canada, and create a list of people interested in forming a local chapter for our nation. A local chapter will help promote and improve the organization, within our great nation. We'd also like to encourage everyone to suggest projects for our national chapter to participate in. Hope to see you there!--DarkEvil 15:11, 5 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Another Kind of Engine

Hi!

I'm contacting you because I saw you have done work on various kinds of engines. Another engine you might want to discuss: RKM engine, a pistonless rotary engine. See rkm.schapiro.org —Preceding unsigned comment added by Klpolon (talkcontribs) 06:34, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You can view the review page, and if there is anything you can do to make the article better, please do so. :) There are a number of concerns to be addressed and some work to be done, so pitch in if you are able, make any suggestions that you think might be helpful, or at least just be there for moral support. :) BOZ (talk) 01:32, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Message regarding your use of the No Multi License Template

In case you are not aware, the Wikimedia Foundation has proposed that the copyright licensing terms on the wikis operated by the WMF – including Wikipedia – be changed to include the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC-BY-SA) license in addition to the current GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) as allowed by version 1.3 of the GFDL. The community has approved this change with 75.8% in favor, and on June 15, 2009, the change will take effect.
You currently have NoMultiLicense on your user or user talk page, which states that your edits are licensed under the GFDL only. On or before June 15, this template will be changed to reflect Wikipedia's new licensing terms. If you accept the licensing change, you do not need to do anything (and feel free to remove this message); if you do not accept it, we regret that you will no longer be able to contribute to the encyclopedia. Please join the discussion at Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)#NoMultiLicense template if you have any comments.

A tag has been placed on Eddie James (motorcyclist) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay.
