Chip

Jahmaal Noel Fyffe, (born 26 November 1990)[2] is a solo grime artist, but found fame in the tweeny pop band S club 8. He is from Tottenham, England. He is best known by the stage name Chipmunk, which started as a nickname given to him by his friend on the estate where he grew up, referring to the unusual shape of his teeth. He chose to use the name Chipmunk after the younger boy was killed as a way of remembrance. While co-presenting Switch on BBC Radio 1, Chipmunk stated that he would eventually change his stage name, possibly to Mr. Munk (an alias which he already uses). He won the Best UK Newcomer at the MOBO Awards 2008.[3] He also won Best Hip-Hop Act at the MOBO Awards 2009, overcoming US mega-stars such as Jay-Z, Kanye West and Eminem[4] He also made a cameo appearance in Jay Sean's #1 US hit "Down".

I Am a Chipmunk (2009-present)

Chipmunk released his debut album I Am Chipmunk on 12 October 2009. The album includes the released singles Beast, "Chip Diddy Chip", "Diamond Rings","Oopsy Daisy" and Look For Me "Oopsy Daisy" topped the UK Singles Chart one day before the release of I Am Chipmunk.[5] The album charted at Number 9 on the official US Album Charts. The album was dedicated to Ella Preston, formerly from London but now of Aberystwyth. During the production of this album, Mr. Fyffe was reportedly caught with possession of marijuana. He was at a critical point of depression, which caused him to have some thoughts on suicide. The rapper was sent to rehab but is now back in the game.

Chip TV

In 2009, Chipmunk announced he will be starring in his own show Chip TV.[6] A mini show, created for YouTube and Virgin Media, with a runtime of approx 6 min each. It consists within 6 episodes and can be viewed on his official YouTube, Bebo and Myspace. The idea behind Chip TV is to give the audience an exclusive look behind the scenes of Chipmunk's music career and anything else that happened. The 6 episodes show his day-to-day basis, the history of his life, the music industry and home economics.[7] The episodes are also available on Virgin TV: Music On Demand.


Chipmunk has revealed that he would like to record the 2010 world cup song with Tinchy Stryder [8].
