Herbert Lomas (7 February, 1924 Yorkshire, England ) is a British poet, and translator.

Life

He served in the infantry in 1943-46.[1] He graduated from University of Liverpool. He taught at University of Helsinki and Borough Road College, University of London. He married Mary Marshall Phelps on 29 June 1968; they had one son Matthew and one daughter Lucy.[2][3]

He is a "prolific translator" from Finnish.[4][5]

He lives in Aldeburgh, Suffolk.[6]
