Queen's Land is a theme park located in Bangalore Highway, Poonamalle, Chennai. It is the latest entrant to the pool of theme parks in chennai. It is run by the same group which owns the Veega Land in Cochin. Right from the start, the park became an instant hit and it is a very preferred spot for passing a day.

Location

The park is located in Chennai-Bangalore highway, very near to the Hyundai Car Factory. It's located between Sriperumpudhur and Poonamalle. The park can be reached by Bus or by any private vehicle. Buses are available from Guindy and T.Nagar. All the buses going to Sriperumpudhur from chennai stops in Queensland.

Entrance

The entry fee for Adult is 350 INR and for Child it is 250 INR. Kids less than 2 feet are not charged anything. On paying the fee, the visitors are provided with a water proof and wither proof band which they should wear on their hand throughout the stay on the park.

One can park their vehicles in the parking space allotted to them. Parking charges are separate.

A pamphlet having the ride and timing details is also given to the guest.

The guests are welcomed by a welcoming team consisting of some officials, clowns and they get a welcome drink. There are many signboards and park employees who guides the guests. The entire park are spawns over 300 acres.

Rides

The Cable car takes 30 minutes and it is worth going

There are totally 51 rides overall. Out of them 33 are for adults and 18 are for Children. However few children can go in adult rides with adults company. And few adult rides are restricted for persons with heart ailments, pregnancy. The rides include both water and dry rides. The following are the few rides which are the highlights of the park.

  • Free fall - guests are made to fall freely from a height of 300ft.
  • Roller Coaster
  • Cable Car- 30 minute ride.
  • Simulation Theater.
  • Octopus.
  • The great Himalayan Water Ride.
  • Bumper Car.
  • Alpen Blitz.
  • Centrix.
  • Mirror House.
  • Queens Land Fairy Train

Timings

Free Fall Tower- the Flagship ride of Queens Land

The park is open from 10 am to 5.30 pm on weekdays and 10.00 am to 6.30 pm on weekends and government holidays. The park will remain closed on Mondays for maintenance. The water rides in the park will function only from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm.

Persons under alcohol influence are strictly not permitted inside the park.

Separate swimming pools are available for Gents and Ladies.

Other facilities

The visitors can get excellent food ( both Veg and Non. Veg ) within the park at very nominal cost. Many drinks and juice stalls are also available.

Clothing can be purchased from the counters for water rides.

Crticism

They don't provide cloak or locker facility to guests. However you can rent a 1x1x1 feet locker for 2 hrs by paying a refundable deposit of 200 INR in wet games area. But for the other rides one has to carry all his belongings with him or leave it some place at his own risk, which makes it a tough task.

Controversies

The park was closed for few weeks on 2007 due to an accident causing injusry to one of the visitor while he was playing water games.
