Blessed by a Broken Heart (BBABH) is a Christian metalcore band, originally from Montreal, Canada that was formed in 2003. They are currently unsigned.
History
Their first release, All Is Fair In Love and War, on Blood & Ink Records in 2004, was in the metalcore genre.
In 2005, they added a shred-style guitar player, Shred Sean, from NYC, and began to evolve toward a more 80's/hair metal/pop sound. The next year, they toured in the United Kingdom on a sold-out headlining tour with Enter Shikari.[1] .
In January 2007, after the addition of vocalist Tony Gambino, they signed with Century Media[2], who sent them into the recording studio. The band spent April at The Farm in Vancouver BC with producer GGGarth Richardson and engineer Ben Kaplan, recording what would become Pedal To The Metal. The rest of 2007 was spent touring the US with The Devil Wears Prada, A Day To Remember and Mychildren Mybride[3]; then they joined Kittie, It Dies Today, Silent Civilian, and Bring Me the Horizon for another US swing. After that tour, longtime members -- rhythm guitar player Robbie Hart and keyboard player Simon Foxx were kicked out of the band.[4]
In mid-January 2008, they returned to Europe, again with Bring Me The Horizon, Maroon and Architects.[5] They finished up that tour with a string of headlining dates in the UK with Azriel and Dividing The Line.
They spent the summer of 2008 on the "Scream the Prayer" US tour, with other notable Christian bands such as Sleeping Giant, Impending Doom, and War of Ages.
Pedal To The Metal was released 2 years after the recording of the album by Century Media in Europe in August, 2008 and the US in September, 2008. Headline Tour dates in Europe and the UK in November and December 2008 have been confirmed with support from I Am Ghost and Devil's Gift. The dates can be seen at the band's myspace.
In May 2009 the band toured Japan with Maximum The Hormone and Bring Me The Horizon. They have also just announced a series of headlining shows in Australia for September 2009.
Glasgow 2008 Controversy
Tyler was arrested on December 9, 2008 in Glasgow, Scotland for assaulting a venue security guard. Fans were called onstage during "Mic Skillz 2", and security attempted to control the situation. After noticing one security guard being very rough with a female fan and allegedly hitting her, Tyler retaliated and struck him in the face with the microphone. Tyler was held in police custody overnight and released the next day.
