Teófilo Gutiérrez (born May 17, 1985) is a Colombian football player born in Barranquilla who plays Striker for the team Atlético Junior in the Copa Mustang. Born very poor, he played for small teams in the slum where he lived with his family until he joined the youth squad of Atlético Junior.
After spending the 1st half of 2008 as a reserve player, he joined the main squad in late 2008 proving a very effective striker. Presently, he leads the 2009 Copa Mustang as top striker with 15 goals, including 6 goals in two consecutive Semifinal games against Deportivo Cucuta and Envigado. His goals have helped Atlético Junior to lead its semifinals group and has now chances of qualifying to the finals. His achievements were rewarded in June 2009 with two important recognitions: he was invited to join the Colombian national team during two World Cup Qualifying matches although he is yet to play a game with the squad and he was named by former Colombian top striker Ivan Rene Valenciano as his most gifted successor.
He made a record scoring 4 hat tricks in one year.
