Hi there, saw your wikilink in the date of birth edit. Just to let you know there seems to be some discussion as to whether wikilinking of dates is really necessary any more. Not sure if things are fully decided yet though. See here for discussion - Wikipedia_talk:Manual_of_Style_(dates_and_numbers). Cheers. Sillyfolkboy (talk) 14:22, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Mr. Solis,

Just wondering why I can't use the Lupin Anti-vandal tool "rollback" button. I've tried the non-admin rollback and even the auto-edit script (and I've cleared my cache). Anyway help desk said to find a very active user and you were online so :). Thankyou in advance Mr. Solis,

My Rfa

Joseph20202021, thank you very much for participating in my Rfa, which was successful with 80 Support, 5 Oppose, 6 Neutral. The comments were overwhelming, and hopefully I can live up to the expectation of the community.

I would also like to thank my nominator Realist2 and my co-nom Orane (talk), and special mention to Acalamari and Lenticel (talk) for the kindness from the start. Regards, Efe

birth dates

Hi,

I noticed that you are making edits with summary "Birth dates are no longer wikilinked)". Can you please point me to the place where this was established. Thank you, `'Míkka>t 00:24, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the pointer. However I see that this issue is a rather fresh discussion, not finished yet (talk page dates are December). So isn't it a bit too early for massive delinking now? (not that I am objecting) `'Míkka>t

I'm Heru from Indonesia, I'm interested in editing the article. And I think it's better if we work together. But I'm not used to Wikipedia. May I know your messenger ID? Discussing this using messenger is faster I guess than using talk page in Wikipedia. Thanks. I know you replaced the image. But because my picture is noisy and small (640 x 480), I will accept your picture. But, I will put into the gallery. Congratulations! GPI-MediaWiki Union (talk) 15:01, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Could you help on the James Connant page?

I noticed you are the last to have done "good edits". Someone has vandalized the page and no one seems to have noticed. I attempted to revert it back with undo, but couldn't seem to get it to work. I am only coming to you because you were the last contributor. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.84.135.8 (talk) 03:35, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Propose moving the article titled Governor-general of Norway to Statholder

I propose moving the article titled Governor-general of Norway to Statholder or, if that is objectionable, to Governor General of Norway. The basis for this move is that there is published material showing three terms: ”Statholder”, “Viceroy” or “Governor General”, are accepted English terms in academic references, while "Governor-general of Norway" appears nowhere in English language print. Viceroy is a generic term, hardly specific to Norway, and should not be used. ”Statholder” is specific to Norway, risking no ambiguity. A survey of usages follows:

  • Governor GeneralJesperson, Leon (Ed.) (2000). A Revolution from Above? The Power State of 16th and 17th Century Scandinavia. Odense University Press. 87-7838-407-9.
  • Statholder (viceroy)Gjerset, Knut (1915). History of the Norwegian People, Volumes I & II. The MacMillan Company.
  • StatholderLarson, Karen (1948). A History of Norway. Princeton University Press. ISBN none.
  • StatholderDerry, T.K. (1960). A Short History of Norway. George Allen & Unwin. ISBN none.
  • Stattholder – by Stagg: Stagg, Frank Noel (1956). East Norway and its Frontier. George Allen & Unwin, Ltd. ISBN none.Stagg, Frank Noel (1954). West Norway and its Fjords. George Allen & Unwin, Ltd. ISBN none.Stagg, Frank Noel (1953). The Heart of Norway. George Allen & Unwin, Ltd. ISBN none.Stagg, Frank Noel (1958). South Norway. George Allen & Unwin, Ltd. ISBN none.
  • Statholder or ViceroyBarton, Arnold H. (1986). Scandinavia in the Revolutionary Era: 1760 - 1815. University of Minnesota Press. ISBN 0-8166-1393-1.
  • GovernorKent, Neil (2000). The Soul of the North. Reaktion Books, London. ISBN 1-86189-067-2.

I strongly incline toward Statholder since it is widely used in publications and is the term one is most likely to come to Wikipedia to look up.

You were contacted because you’ve edited the article. Your counsel and guidance would be appreciated… Please comment at Talk:Governor-general of Norway.

Embedded citations

Hi, I noticed that you are repeatedly making edits in which you place a space between punctuation and an external link, with an edit comment saying "Add space between the article and the link (external)". This is incorrect Wikipedia style. These links are not just external links, they are embedded citations. It's the old way of doing references in Wikipedia. According to Wikipedia, "An embedded external link is placed after the period at the end of a sentence, or, when within a sentence, after the comma or semicolon at the end of a clause, without intervening space."[1] By adding the space, you are taking correct embedded citation style and making it incorrect. Ideally, embedded citations should be changed to the new footnote style, again with no space between punctuation and footnote. --JHP (talk) 02:47, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Leonese language

Hello Joseph. Like you can see, I'm a member of Wikiproject Languages and Wikiproject Endangered Language for a long time. I've been working in some articles about languages, trying to improve them, especially Leonese language. I've given life agan to the Portal Languages. But in the last weeks, in the last months, one of this articles, Leonese language, has been continuosly vandalized by a men called Rastrojo. He's a castillian-spanish nationalist and even when I tried to talk to him for having an agreement, and other people talked to him about whta he's absolutly cloe in that sense. Now he called his friends from Spanish Wikipedia and they are again and again trying to do the same. They don't construct anything, they are not improving the article, they just change things for keeping their political points of view. In all their interventions there are none about langague. So I call for yur help beacuse I don't want to do. I try to improve, they destroy my work. Can you help me, please? Thank you very much.--Auslli (talk) 19:28, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Translation help request

Hello. This may seem very random, but I'm looking for a Spanish-speaking editor to help out with translations and you're the first active user I came across in the list of Spanish-speaking Wikipedians willing to help w/ translations. To be a little more specific in what I need help with: numerous articles and templates for South American and Latin American beauty pageants have been created under Spanish names (i.e., Reina Hispanoamericana, Reina Nacional de Belleza Miss República Dominicana 2006) and should be moved to appropriate English versions. I asked about this some weeks ago at a policy talk page and the consensus was that these articles should indeed be moved. But in case you're wondering, I could just ask the article creators, but all the articles that made me concerned with this issue were created by now-blocked socks or inactive users. If you're game though, I could just ask you for translations and I'll move the pages or you can move them yourself. Let me know. Thanks!  Mbinebri  talk ← 15:42, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Zh templates

Just so you know, the templates {{zh-stp}}, etc., have all recently been replaced by {{zh}}, a template which has the functionality of all of them and works just the same. (A bot is currently working on going on and replacing all the old versions). rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 15:37, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your help in cleaning up the zh templates. Best, rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 19:29, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Headers

Will you please not remove spaces from headers, like you did in this edit. The Manual of Style specifically allows for both. Furthermore, with spaces is the Wikipedia software default. As you can see from how this very section I am now writing will have turned out when you read it. In any case, this is not an edit that should be made. Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Joseph Solis in Australia! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 26 of the articles that you created are Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to these articles, it would greatly help us with the current 2 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

Service medal

The service medal you show on your user page requires seven (7) years service on Wikipedia. According to your edit counter, your first edit was made Feb 19, 2006. I understand, from the same edit counter, that you have made more than the requisite 50,000 edits. However, the service medal criteria clearly require both a minimum number of edits and a minimum number of years. Keeping the service medal up after only four (4) years is misleading and inaccurate. I would respectfully ask that it be taken down. -- Tenebrae (talk) 01:59, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
