==Omission==

A notable omission is Oliver! which was a British film although distributed by Columbia. It was however a huge success in America, winning six oscars including best film and best director. I presume it was excluded simply upon an eligibility basis.
It has an incredible number of good songs, and would surely be in the top five had it been included among the entrants.
