He wrestled all through school and after graduating in 2003, he was awarded a scholarship to wrestle for the University of Minnesota. Ultimate Fighting Championships

In August 2009, it was announced Lentz would be debuting for the Ultimate Fighting Championship at UFC 103. He replaced an injured Dan Lauzon and fought Rafaello Oliveira.[1] Lentz won via unanimous decision with the judges scoring the bout (29-28, 29-28, 30-27).

Lentz was suppose to fight Efrain Escudero but is now expected to face Jeremy Stephens on January 11, 2010 at UFC Fight Night 20.[2]. Jeremy Stephens back out of the fight with an injury. Nik will now be fighting Thiago Tavares.
