Nik Lentz (born August 13, 1984 in El Paso, Texas) is an American mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter. Lentz is currently signed under the Ultimate Fighting Championships promotion, fighting in its lightweight division.
Biography
Lentz was born in Texas but grew up in Minnesota, attending Jefferson Senior High School. He wrestled all through school and after graduating in 2003, he was awarded a scholarship to wrestle for the University of Minnesota. Nik has only one semester left before he graduates with a degree in Pre-Med for biology. Besides being enrolled in school and fighting MMA, Nik ran an online store that sold video games and rare collectibles.
Mixed martial arts
Lentz started his professional MMA career in 2005, competing primarily in Minnesota for various promotions. He currently has a record of 17 wins, 3 losses, 1 Draw.
Ultimate Fighting Championship
In August 2009, it was announced Lentz would be debuting for the Ultimate Fighting Championship at UFC 103. He replaced an injured Dan Lauzon and fought Rafaello Oliveira. Lentz won via unanimous decision with the judges scoring the bout (29-28, 29-28, 30-27).
Lentz faced Thiago Tavares at UFC Fight Night 20, with the fight ending in a draw (majority).[1]
