Steve Allen is a British radio presenter for LBC Radio, from 5-7 AM. He lives in Twickenham, London.
Radio Career
He has broadcast on LBC radio for 24 years, though his career in journalism began at the age of 15. He worked as a disc jockey and subsequently joined the United Biscuits Network, a radio station broadcasting to workers in United Biscuits' factories. His voice was heard in Scotland, Liverpool, Manchester and London.
UBN closed in 1979 (following the Lorry Drivers' Strike during the Winter of Discontent) and he was employed as presented of the Night Extra programme on LBC. 'The Night is Young' was the next series of programmes he presented, eight years later. When LBC was separated into 1152 AM and 97.3 FM, Steve presented the afternoon show of 'London Talkback Radio' (latterly News Talk 1152).
Steve has also worked for Blue Danube Radio in Vienna, a station sponsored by the Unitd Nations. He is also known as the host of Crinkley Bottom radio on Noel Edmonds' Garden Party.
His current radio show is primarily a monologue, interjected with text messages and emails over night. He is frank about his opinions of many celebrities. However, he does have many celeb contacts himself, including being friends with Sir Elton John whose stag night he attended in December 2005.
TV experience
Steve was the presenter of "5's Company", described as "a magazine programme on primetime TV". Other TV credits include "Weather Permitting" on BSB, 'Newman and Baddiel' on BBC, 'Entertainment Now' on WTN and 'Night Male' on UK Living.
Diabetes
Steve discovered he was diabetic and has since promoted testing on and off air.
