Cubans in the United Kingdom are Cuban people who were born in or have migrated to the United Kingdom.
The majority settled in the Greater London area after fleeing political persecution and the Communist government in the 1970's and 80's.
According to the 2001 Census, there were 1,083 Cuban-born people living in the UK.[1] In 2001, the UK held host to the sixth largest number of Cuban emigrants on the planet (behind the USA, Spain, Italy, Mexico and Canada respectively).[1]
Cuban culture in the UK

The event is normally held around June. The event regularly has attendances in excess of 50,000 people and attracts some of the top Salsa bands from around the world.
In 2008 alone Carnival de Cuba attracted over 60,000 visitors.[2]
