Uhr...she's from the US, not Russia! She's been living in the USA for ages, so 97 should be USA alone, not US/Russia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.50.221.32 (talk) 01:25, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, but she was born in Russia, and lived there till she was Nine. Changing your country doesn't Change your country of origin. Churba (talk) 01:27, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
Thats like saying nicole kidman is english/australian. just because she was born there doesnt mean she is from the UK! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.50.221.32 (talk) 01:35, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- First of all, she was born in America, not England, Second, her Parents are Australian, third, she was only there for 4 years or so. Regina Spektor was born in Russia, to Russian parents, and lived there for 9 years, and to the best of my knowlege identifies herself as a Russian-American. Churba (talk) 01:45, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
Why don't we go with what wikipedia says "Regina Ilyinichna Spektor (Cyrillic: Регина Ильинична Спектор; born February 18, 1980) is a Soviet-born American singer-songwriter and pianist." So yeah, soviet born, but currently american. If this page says russian/american it's inconsistent with the rest of wiki. your risk though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.50.221.32 (talk) 01:53, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- You're right, let's go with what the wiki says -
"The seriousness of her piano studies led her parents to consider not leaving the USSR, but they finally decided to emigrate, due to the ethnic and political discrimination which Jews faced.[3] Spektor is completely fluent in Russian and reads Hebrew, and has since paid tribute to her Russian heritage, quoting the poem February by the famous Russian poet Boris Pasternak in her song Après Moi, and stating “I’m very connected to the language and the culture.”" Big Risk, right there. Are we done here? Churba (talk) 02:02, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
She speaks the language...big deal? I speak more than one language and have lived in other conuntries. I'm still australian. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.244.3.45 (talk) 02:17, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
You'd also note that is says her "russian heritage". Heritage means "the past", not the nationality she currently is! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.244.3.45 (talk) 02:22, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- Oh for christ's sake. You want to take issue, Make the damn edit, and stop whining like a child. I'm not going to argue with you any more, because You're never going to go "Hey, you're right!" No matter if I got Ms Spektor herself to tell you "I'm Russian American, and proudly identify as such", and I'm wasting my time arguing. Not to mention You don't seem to understand that being born in a country means you're from there - Lovely, You speak more than one language, welcome to the club, here's your membership card that gets you a discount at Hog's breath, and you've lived in other countries, allow me to congratulate you from small country home just outside of Leeds, west yorkshire - but you can't learn to be born somewhere, and you can't change where you were born just by moving where you are in the present. This is the last I will engage with you, other than that I suggest you lodge all further complaints either with the management, or preferably, in your fundamental orifice. Churba (talk) 02:37, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
If you'd seen the IP addresses, you'd notice it was two people. But in any event, I rate your comment. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.244.3.45 (talk) 02:41, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
Not that it matters much anymore, but I think you're right to include her Russian heritage. Think of the Waifs- great Australian folk band who at various times have lived in counties such as the UK and I think? are actually living in the US at the moment. I would like to think that no matter how many years they lived overseas, I could still refer to them as Australian. I would also like to think that if i moved overseas, people would not forget my heritage. Hope the issue gets resolved :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Carrie a bag (talk • contribs) 04:15, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
Ready to go
I've now removed the original redirects that existed to Triple J Hottest 100 of All Time, 2009, and have now set up the page ready for this year's Hottest 100 (using my own template, based on the 2008 Hottest 100 page). --JB Adder | Talk 07:04, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
Hello Again
Are we ready for this year's flood of vandalism and idiocy? Churba (talk) 01:12, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- I've decided I'm gonna sit back, relax and watch the vandalism this year, it's too hard to help clean up when I'm drinking a few beers! :-P -- Sarz (talk) 01:18, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- I've got it handled for now - I'm a UK based Expat, so It's not like I'm partying much, and drinking alone feels a bit sad-sack. Munching on Lamb chops, though. Churba (talk) 01:23, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- A request for semi-protection has been made. Hopefully it'll pull through again before the end of the countdown. --JB Adder | Talk 01:28, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks JB, you're a legend. Churba (talk) 01:31, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- Don't thank me yet; we still have to get it approved first. --JB Adder | Talk 01:37, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- Lol @ someone adding vampire weekend to #1. I'd fix it, but someone else probably has already. --220.253.28.185 (talk) 02:32, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- I'm mostly keeping an eye out for stuff like that, I'm on a delay with distance and internet streaming, so I'd never get in on time as to who comes at any particular spot, unless I made a lucky guess. Churba (talk) 02:44, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- Triple J's Twitter is keeping up-to-date with the countdown, so it's easy to check the accuracy of entries. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.23.142.34 (talk) 02:55, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- True, But I'm still behind enough that I won't get there first, but I have been checking accuracy. Churba (talk) 02:58, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Anything from DaveDemon can be undone on sight, he's just a vandal, after a quick review of his edit history. Churba (talk) 03:15, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
How is that Semi-Protect coming? Churba (talk) 03:31, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- Getting pushed further down the list, unfortunately. Once they clear the fulfilled requests, they might get around to actually looking at ours. --JB Adder | Talk 03:35, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- And we have protection. --JB Adder | Talk 03:52, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
Semiprotected now. No more Vandalism. :-) 67.183.16.32 (talk) 03:52, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
Well, Less, anyway :P Churba (talk) 03:53, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, we still need to be on the lookout for DaveDemon's "contributions". --JB Adder | Talk 03:56, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- At least it came in somewhat more timely this year - Last year we only got a semi-protect when we were down to about 10-15 or so. Churba (talk) 03:57, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Leaked Winner
The winner was leaked at http://www.crikey.com.au/2010/01/22/oz-day-spoiler-abc-leaks-hottest-100-victor/, and is referenced at http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/01/22/2799089.htm (ABC online, which is a highly reliable source.)
The polls closed on the 18th of January. The date of the Crikey webpage is the 22nd of January. This is after the polls closed, so isn't "crystal-balling". Also, both references refer to Mumford & Sons "Little Lion Man" as the "winner", not the "Frontrunner" as claimed by JB Adder. The word "frontrunners" appears in an unrelated phrase in the screenshot. 67.183.16.32 (talk) 01:19, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
Adding songs
If you don't know how to format it correctly, don't add any songs. Nobody cares if you're the first one to add a particular song. Depor23 (talk) 01:39, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
Remember Me
This is a cover song, it should link to the original. Azrael84 (talk) 02:52, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
