Speedy deletion declined: Products manufactured in australia
Hello IBen. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Products manufactured in australia, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: It's POV, OR etc, but not really covered by "Economy of Australia" - let the PROD take care of it. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 12:05, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

My comment
My comment was not intended to be uncivil. My apologies if it came across that way. If you could explain to me in what manner it was uncivil it would help me to improve my etiquette. Chillum (Need help? Ask me) 22:46, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

I see you have begun writing this. Pretzels' advice made it seem as if you should write any of the pages which aren't already started, but he intended for you to write any that did not already have a steady writer (see here). It isn't a big problem, I suppose, and you can finish it for this week if you would like. But I will resume writing it next week. ÷seresin 18:55, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
- Didn't mean to step on your toes. As you said, User:Pretzels' advice seemed to say start on whatever you like.
Anyway, you can write it if you'd like. However, I'd be happy to help. -- iBentalk/contribsIf you reply here, please place a talkback notification on my page. 21:24, 24 January 2010 (UTC)Hey folks! Glad you want to get involved. You can start writing the articles listed in the table below straight away - how about News & Notes, or In the News? Try to stick to the same style as previous editions. Links for finding news to write about can be found on our Resources page. Good luck! — Pretzels Hii! 20:01, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
- No worries; it was reasonable to infer from Pretzel's comment that you could jump in on any page. I have a somewhat large other page I am writing this week, so it's probably a plus that you can handle this page this week. I'll give it a look-over later to make sure all is in order if you would like, and if you have any other questions let me know. — Preceding unsigned comment added by seresin (talk • contribs)

- Hi Ben, I looked it over. Just a couple of things: you didn't seem to use the templates when you listed the features. These templates link to the nomination, and are just easier to use. You can find them in the source code for last week's article—(actually, you may find it easier to copy and paste last week's code and use that as a starting point). You also seem to have omitted Today's Featured Article, the daily featured picture, all the de-features, as well as a featured sound (thought I don't know if you're finished). Also, there was a successful RfB, so you will need to list that this week as well. ÷seresin 00:27, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

If you look at the prior week's report, you will see how the list of TFAs and picture of the day are formatted. You can find them here and here, respectively. here is the featured sound. Don't worry too much about getting anything wrong; it's a wiki and nobody is going to get angry if you need some time to figure it out. ÷seresin 01:42, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi IBen, did you notice that you immediately slapped a bunch of tags on the new article only THREE MINUTES after it was created? Seems a bit hasty for a work in progress, it's a spinoff from a longer article and clearly needs some cleanup, but gosh, can't an editor have at least five minutes to take off the rough edges?? Trout slap! Montanabw(talk) 04:59, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
- I just swallowed the trout. :( In addition, the reason I tagged the page was so that the author know what they have to improve on.-- iBentalk/contribsIf you reply here, please place a talkback notification on my page. 05:03, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
- Let's try that again. I have been editing wikipedia for almost four years. I have multiple GAs and have helped on a couple FAs. I know how to write an article. So how about you give me a bit of time to work up an article before tagging it. You are creating edit conflicts. If you've just let me work, I suspect most of your objections will be addressed. Give it an hour and check back. Montanabw(talk) 05:11, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
- I feel that it is always helpful to get constructive criticism so you can improve. I understand your concern; you feel I should have given you more time to work. In the future, if you don't want people to comment, tag, etc. you should userfy the page.-- iBentalk/contribsIf you reply here, please place a talkback notification on my page. 22:49, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

- Obviously, but that's not the point here. I think that there is no need to tag something that is going to pass the deletionist criteria until it's clearly not going anywhere, which means not tagging it within three MINUTES of creation. I think there is a place to sandbox totally new articles, so I agree there, but here this was a spinoff from another article that has been relatively stable for over a year. Seemed silly to move it twice, and seemed not be be inviting massive tagging. I mean really, would it have hurt anything to wait a mere hour or so? You can always tag when things settle down a bit. I suppose there is something to be said for the {{underconstruction}} tag, but if I as an experienced editor with over 100 new articles (excluding disambigs and redirects) have felt rather discouraged in creating new articles in the past year, (I think I've started maybe three recently) imagine how a newcomer feels. I also recreated a previously deleted article a few weeks ago and was fighting prod tags for an hour and a half just trying to get the thing sourced! It now is accepted, but that was also a real gauntlet. I sympathize with the desire to make wiki better, but on the other hand, I wonder if we are getting too anal. (And I think of myself as REALLY anal, so if I think this is a problem, hmmm..) Well, food for thought. Montanabw(talk) 05:18, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
- A good tag would be {{underconstruction}} or {{inuse}}!-- iBentalk/contribsIf you reply here, please place a talkback notification on my page. 23:49, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, that probably would do the trick. Well, onward through the fog! Montanabw(talk) 00:52, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

WikiProject Report
We'd love to have more writers for WikiProject Report. Spotlight looks to be inactive. Are you planning to revive it? I'm currently working on WP Dinosaurs for next week, although you can take over for me if you'd like. We're also planning on doing WP Olympics the week after to coincide with the start of the Winter Games in Vancouver, but we haven't decided who's writing it yet. After that article, it's pretty open. -Mabeenot (talk) 06:09, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
- I'm looking to revive it, yes. If you'd like to do it next week, go ahead, however, I would like to be the regular writer for the section. -- iBentalk/contribsIf you reply here, please place a talkback notification on my page. 23:52, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
- RegentsPark and I were planning to take turns with the WikiProject Report and I thought you might like to be part of the rotation. It's a lot of work to do all the reports every week and the few editors who tried typically got burnt-out after just a couple months (see the archive). I was talking with RegentsPark earlier today and he was considering doing the WP Olympics report but he hasn't started it yet. If you'd like to take it be sure to talk to him about it. Otherwise, you could definitely do WP Spotlight for publication in the February 15 Signpost. -Mabeenot (talk) 01:08, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- A rotation sounds good. That means we each can have a couple of weeks to put our articles together. It might be good to have a generic (but customizable) {{WP:POST/INTERVIEW}} template for easier interviewing. I could work on this; I'm good at building templates. I don't represent WP Spotlight, just came across it and thought it might make a good article about real time collaboration.-- iBentalk/contribsIf you reply here, please place a talkback notification on my page. 01:12, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- A template would be great! In case you haven't seen it yet, there is a backlog of WikiProject Report suggestions which includes someone requesting an article on Spotlight dating back to May 2008. Feel free to do an article on Spotlight and I hope you're successful in reviving it. Let me know if you need any help writing interview questions. -Mabeenot (talk) 01:18, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- I just started a draft template (Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/Newsroom/Interview). It'll end up being a ton more complex with ifs and stuff like that but it's a start. -- iBentalk/contribsIf you reply here, please place a talkback notification on my page. 01:28, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- If you could take the Olympics, that would be great. I'll find something else to do the week after. --RegentsPark (sticks and stones) 01:47, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

AFD discussion
Hello, i would like to add this comment on the discussion regarding the Article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ekram_Alam but i'm not quite sure how to to it. I strongly believe that this page should be deleted, as i find it offensive that someone would make a page containing fraudulent claims.
Delete: I do not feel that there are enough reliable sources cited, meaning that this article is in breach of Wikipedia guidelines. It ought to be deleted so that Wikipedia doesn't lose it's status as a valuable source of information, because this article is little more than poppycock.

Fair Use Licence for File:IPad_Screenshot.jpg
Firstly, I found this template for adding a message to your userpage quite cumbersome. I don't want to inflame nerves, but perhaps a more standardized approach would be nice. However, this isn't really mine to determine. I am really here because I noted that you uploaded the file File:IPad_Screenshot.jpg which although had fair use rationale did not have a fair use template. I added one, but when uploading an image be sure to select a licence from the drop down menu. Thanks :)

- Yes, I am thinking of a "normal way." It is mainly for new users so I think I'll add a link "Do it the regular way." I've added External Links and a few references to the Soulbender page. Hello, iBen. May you kindly tell me what this is? Please don't ignore this as you did my other comment. It's quite irritating when I'm trying to communicate. Regards, Airplaneman talk 05:40, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
- I'd like to invite you to try QUI which is a script and system that helps you keep track of the online/offline status of you and your friends. It is meant to help you and your friends edit and communicate on Wikipedia more efficiently.-- iBentalk/contribsIf you reply here, please place a talkback notification on my page. 00:45, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

- Hey, how do you get your status to show up in the upper right hand corner? Does it only show for users other than yourself? Thanks, Airplaneman talk 04:55, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
- Using the {{Statustop}} template. I was having trouble using it with the {{rollbacker}} template, however. You could build your own template if you like.-- iBentalk/contribsIf you reply here, please place a talkback notification on my page. 05:17, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

Not workin'...I don't care that much. Have you tried my new interface for adding a message? It's the big plus (+) at the top of this page. Yea, everyone messes up. I even got 2 articles deleted back in the day. Nice interface! Really cool and easy to use. Airplaneman talk 05:44, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
- Mainly for newcomers to help them get better results! Glad to hear you like it! It's not quite done yet, but it's coming along. I'll be NPPing and writing for the signpost here soon.-- iBentalk/contribsIf you reply here, please place a talkback notification on my page. 05:47, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
- Just patrolled like 5 in about 45 seconds. Combining Twinkle and this script I am really efficient.-- iBentalk/contribsIf you reply here, please place a talkback notification on my page. 05:49, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
- Just remember, it's not about speed but accuracy. I tend to wikify every article as much as I can by Bolding the title and whatnot. It's far more rewarding (IMO) than just tagging, etc. I use User:J.delanoy/newpage.js. Airplaneman talk 05:54, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
- Yep, usually I try to help out with that. See my signpost article to be published next week about drive-by tagging! Unfortunately, most of the articles that are created I have to tag for speedy deletion.-- iBentalk/contribsIf you reply here, please place a talkback notification on my page. 05:57, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

My new page
Did you happen to notice that I have a rhodium star at the top of my talk page?
Why are you ignoring it?
Why are you ignoring my Under Construction sign?
I have asked you guys before to please give it a rest. I am trying to add content, and you are blowing my page away.
Why don't you wait 1 minute after the creation of the page before you nuke it? Eh?
Why is 1 minute so much?
Varlaam (talk) 06:12, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
- Before you create an article, please draft it in your user space. For example, you would draft at Special:Mypage/NewArticle. Also, instead of using the text "under contraction", please use {{under construction}}. Please try to assume good faith and be civil. -- iBentalk/contribsIf you reply here, please place a talkback notification on my page. 18:37, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
Well, wasn't that a great big waste of my time. Look before you act. Someone who has 24k edits doesn't need interference when he is working. Does that seem reasonable? Good night, Varlaam (talk) 06:18, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
- As I said earlier, before you create an article, please draft in your userspace.-- iBentalk/contribsIf you reply here, please place a talkback notification on my page. 18:41, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
iBen, be careful. I've received stuff like this as well. Just patrol from the bottom of the log, obey all tags, and wait unless the page says something like "pie" (thanks for tagging that one). Airplaneman talk 06:23, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the advice. I did assume good faith and used the standard Twinkle notification. Not the first person I've dealt with like this... I'm thinking of creating User:iBen/Moans so I can reference policies better.-- iBentalk/contribsIf you reply here, please place a talkback notification on my page. 18:41, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
I think it just irritates people sometimes when you tag "their" page before they've had much of a chance to work on it. Here you go:
ClueBot III has eaten your {{subst:cookie}}! The cookie made them happy and they'd like to give you a great big hug for donating it. You nominated this article for deletion as having almost no content. I have added content and references to verify notability, and I have voted Keep at your AFD nomination. Just letting you know. --MelanieN (talk) 19:52, 31 January 2010 (UTC)MelanieN
- Perhaps you should add content to the article, not just the infobox.-- iBentalk/contribsIf you reply here, please place a talkback notification on my page. 20:03, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
- Dang it! I had added content and four references, and they must have gotten lost as a conflict when somebody else posted the infobox. I have reconstructed the information I added. I think this information (including two different reviews in the NYT) clearly establishes the book as notable. It could still be regarded as a stub, but being a stub is not grounds for deletion. --MelanieN (talk) 20:29, 31 January 2010 (UTC)Melanie

Wikiout
First Annual Wikiout. In order to give our vandalism, new page and spam patrollers a well deserved day off, it is suggested that all edit patrollers take a 1 day vacation from editing Wikipedia, on Thursday, April 1, 2010. (No, this is NOT an April Fools Joke) Go out, enjoy the spring weather, and give your wrist a break from using that mouse! Please pass this message along to other patrollers by adding {{subst:User:Wuhwuzdat/Wikiout}} ~~~~ to their talk pages |

Speedy deletion declined: Mohammad Ataul Karim
Hello IBen. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Mohammad Ataul Karim, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 05:35, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
re: speedy delettion of Felix Zandman
Hi. I am replying to your message about speedy deletion of article about Felix Zandman. Someone already cleaned it up - please see if this is sufficient?

- It is, but I think you hit the min threads limit, since ClueBot just archived a thread after you added this. BTW, those comments are creepy and makes the wikitext really hard to read. Tim Song (talk) 04:37, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
