Richard Baneham (born 1974) is an Irish animator trained in Ballyfermot Art College. He moved to L.A. 13 years ago with his girlfriend, and now wife to pursue his career. He's most famous for his work as animation supervisor on The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King where he oversaw the animation of the character of Gollum. He has previously worked as animator on several films including The Iron Giant and as animation supervisor on Cats and Dogs. He also worked with Rhythm and Hues on The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
His most recent work is featured in the 2009 movie Avatar. He appeared with Avatar director James Cameron on CNN's Larry King Live, February 3, 2010.
Richie makes a brief cameo in Martin Scorsese's movie, The Departed, as the dead body in the police photographs near the beginning of the movie.[citation needed]
