Origin and notability

Can anybody add some proof to demonstrate that this is not just a load of old tosh made up by some florists on a slow day? If it is something with real historic roots (forgive the pun) then it needs to be referenced better and have its history and context explained. I modified the article with using tables for listing the each flower and their meanings. On the US part, I copied from the tool-page of a telephone notebook, where no reference I can find out for it. As it was printed for people's daily use in the notebook, I guest that should be the modern style of US, just like the category of Birthstones styles listed in Wikipedia.--Gzyeah (talk) 10:52, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
