He married Licinia, who was daughter of Marcus Licinius Crassus Dives (consul 14 BC). Lucius was consul in 27 BC. His co-consul was his brother-in-law Marcus Licinius Crassus Frugi. Lucius died in an unknown year after his consulship. He had one son Gaius Calpurnius Piso, the leader of the pisonian conspiracy in 65 AD.
