Biography
Gerald Randolph Anderson, Jr. was born to Gerald Randy Anderson, Sr., a Caucasian-American instructor in the Philippine Navy who travels back and forth between the U.S. and Zambales, and Evangeline Opsima, a Filipina from General Santos City, South Cotabato, Mindanao, Philippines. Gerald ha two older sister, Jen and Darlin from his mother's first marriage and a youner brother, Kenneth. When he was three years old, he and his family moved to San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from elementary school at Spring Creek Academy in Plano, Texas.[citation needed] At age 14, Anderson and his family returned to General Santos City.[2] Anderson is multilingual, demonstrating oral fluency in both English and Tagalog through his work; he also has some proficiency in Cebuano[3].
Career
Early work
Anderson was discovered by Joross Gamboa while the latter was performing in his hometown. Gamboa introduced him to his manager, Jhun Reyes, who then brought him to ABS-CBN to join PBB: Teen Edition.[4]
Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition
He rose to fame when he placed third overall in the first Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition[5]. He was billed as the "Amboy Hottie" from General Santos City.[6] Since the end of Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition, Anderson along with his love team partner, Kim Chiu, have appeared together in several shows on the ABS-CBN Network and have been tapped to do several television advertisements and product endorsements. Anderson also worked on a primetime television series entitled Sana Maulit Muli (English: Once Again) with Chiu. Their love team has been dubbed "Kimerald" by fans, [citation needed] which is a portmonteau of their names.
2008-present
In 2008, Anderson and Chiu launched their second and third teleseryes with ABS-CBN entitled My Girl and My Only Hope. Anderson and Chiu had a Primetime Bida in 2009 with Jake Cuenca entitled Tayong Dalawa (English: The Two of Us), which was the second time the trio had worked together.
Anderson became the 20th millionaire on the game show Kapamilya, Deal or No Deal, which aired February 2, 2009, after winning two million Philippine pesos with co-star Cuenca.
Anderson was the special guest of the 2009 Philippine Fiesta along with Chiu, which was held on August 15-16 at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus, New Jersey.
Anderson is part of drama series Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo (English: Should We Be Apart), starring Kim Chiu, Gabby Concepcion, and Kris Aquino. In addition, his second movie with Chiu was recently released as Star Cinema's opening salvo for 2010 entitled Paano na Kaya? (English: What If?).
