Costa Serena is a cruise ship of the Costa Cruises fleet, and it is the flagship. It entered service in mid-2007. The name Serena was intended to symbolize harmony and serenity. The ship was constructed at Sestri Ponente. Her sister ship, the Costa Concordia, was launched in 2006. The two ships are the largest and longest ships in the Costa Cruises fleet. A third sister ship, the Costa Pacifica, was launched in 2009.

Inaugural Event
May 19th, 2007 marked the day of the Costa Serena's inaugural event. The event was held in Marseille, France. At night, fireworks lit up the sky as the Costa Serena sat in the Old Port of Marseilles.
