Winston Wiremu Reid (born July 3, 1988 in Auckland) is a Danish-New Zealand football player. His position of preference in at the heart of defence as a center back.

Club Career

Reid moved to Denmark at the age of 10 and signed a youth contract with SUB Sønderborg and later, FC Midtjylland earning his first team debut in 2005. Reid received Danish citizenship in 2006, and was subsequently called up for the under 19 national team, along with other FC Midtjylland players Jesper Weinkouff, Simon Kjær, and Christian Sivebæk.

He is one of the first players to graduate from FCM's football academy, the first of its kind in Denmark. A string of impressive performances has seen him establish himself as a regular in the first team and is considered to be a considerable talent for the future.

International Career

Reid is currently in contact with All Whites coach Ricki Herbert and is a prospect for New Zealand's 2010 FIFA World Cup squad. On 11 March 2010, Reid confirmed to New Zealand news broadcaster 3 News that he wants to play for New Zealand,[1] and on 13 March 2010 Reid stated he would commit his international football allegiance to New Zealand and make himself available for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.[2]
