Telewizja Polska Spółka Akcyjna (TVP S.A., often abbreviated to only TVP, Polish Television) is Poland's public broadcasting corporation. About a third of TVP's income comes from a broadcast receiver licence, while the rest is covered by commercials and sponsorships.
History
In 1935, Państwowy Instytut Telekomunikacji (State Telecommunications Institute, PIT) starts working together with Polish Radio on establishing television service
The first edition of television was in 1937, The black and white TV broadcast just to send signals to departments. The real broadcast started October 13, 1938. And programs supposed to start in 1941. But German army destroyed all the tools.
PIT resumes on TV project in 1947. The first Polish telecast started in December 1951 after 2nd world war.
The official broadcast of TP started 25/10/1952. In Black and White. Secam color started 1971. But Pal started 1993
On new year's 1993, TVP (Television of Poland) joins European Broadcasting Union as an active member (regrouping of OIRT and UER).

TVP is cooperating with the French-German TV network ARTE[1], this cooperation has been suspended in February 2009 as TVP's new Intendant's, Piotr Farfał, views were incompatible with Arte’s "philosophy based on intercultural exchange" [2] and "the party that TVP's chairman is presently connected with does not share European values"[3].
