:There are 211 people named "Davalos" on the 1930 U.S. census, and the places of origin of some of the foreign-born "Davalos" listed include Lithuania, Mexico, Greece, and Italy. So, it's not quite a clear-cut case of it being a Greek name. As for "Dunas", there are 29 on the 1930 census. There's one from Greece and one from Puerto Rico, but a few from Poland, Russia, Austria, and Lithuania (which fits in with what Davalos said of her father's family). French or American? (or Greek?..)

Hi, this article claims Davalos to be American, as does her French entry. Spanish and German Wikipedia say she's French. Does anyone know for sure? This inconsistency should be removed. --NoCultureIcons (talk) 17:42, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alexa Davalos was born in Paris, France, but she is the daughter of an American father and an American mother. Davalos herself states she is Greek [1]. It is noteworthy that she is described there as simply "Greek" and not "Greek-American". Of course, what one person wants to be thought of and what one person actually is might be two different things. But Alexa Davalos' mother is almost certainly of Greek descent [2]. Her father, actor Richard "Dick" Davalos, is almost always referred to as "Greek-American". A trivial google search unearths many references to Alexa Davalos' and her mother's ethnic origin, e.g. EpisodeGuides.blog, FastForwardWeekly.com, WritingStudio.co.za, etc. -The Gnome (talk) 10:51, 11 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Where does she herself state that she is Greek? This reference [3] is a fan site, not a quote from Davalos, and fan sites aren't reliable sources. There are seemingly thousands of these internet websites out there, that copy Wikipedia, the IMDB, or each other. They include some of the ones you listed above - they don't have any authors credited, and it's not clear why any would be reliable sources - they are simply web sites and wouldn't pass the criteria at Wikipedia:Reliable sources. I suppose I bregrudgingly have to accept that the MGM press release [4] could be reliable - although I don't doubt that the production people at MGM simply copied what was on Wikipedia a few months before the film's September 2007 release date (see version of this article in May 2007 with the exact same wording - and it's been in the Wikipedia article since its creation in Sept. 2005 - by an anon user). As for her actual ancestry, "Davalos" can be Greek, but it can also be of Spanish origin (maybe that's why this editor added that she is also "of Spanish descent"); I can't find anything reliable that states Richard Davalos was of Greek descent. That's the problem with having so many popular websites (IMDB and Wikipedia) that are filled almost exclusively with content that anyone can add or change - all it takes is for someone to add a piece of information to one place, and from there it goes to all the other sites; I personally would like to wait for something like a quote from Davalos about "what she is", instead of just continuing to renew the chain that probably started on Wikipedia in the first place. Excellent points, all. The search for the body (of evidence) continues.-The Gnome (talk) 08:15, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
In this new interview, Davalos says that she is of Eastern European Jewish ancestry on her father's side - [5]. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 08:54, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Both surnames, i.e., Davalos and Dunas ( spelt as Dounas in Greek where the "ou" has the sound of "oo") are of Greek etymology, therefore the bloodlines are Greek in both cases, regardless of where they were born or raised. That is, the ethnicity of Davalos and Dunas is Greek. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.131.27.238 (talk) 06:36, 13 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
