I have removed an entire paragraph that is based on a supposed quote about "Sexual Deviancy". The underlying quote for this is from an politically charged NDP press release, released in the middle of a poltically charged debate - and as noted in the paragraph removed Emmanuel disputes ever having said this.
I've decided to remove a set of comments that I made on this page last week. This is intended as a courtesy: although I stand by the arguments that I made at the time, I recognize that some of my remarks could be interpreted as intemperate and/or as disparaging toward the subject.

In the absence of a reputable source for a disputed quote, and when the source of the quote denies he ever said it, it seems unfair and libelous to continue to post the smear in Wikipedia. The other citiations here, that repeat that smear, are similarly only valid if the original quote is valid, which has not been proven.
I've made several adjustments to this biography page in recent days, taking into account concerns that have been raised by the subject and by others. In so doing, I've tried to portray the subject's public history in a fair and accurate manner, erring on the side of NPOV.

I hold the opinion that Emmanuel is a notable public figure, and is a fair subject for a Wikipedia biography. In light of the recent changes, I would ask that he withdraw his request that the page be deleted. [[User:CJCurrie|CJCurrie]] ([[User talk:CJCurrie|talk]]) 00:01, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
If the Wikipedia project is to succeed it must not be used by activists to smear people. It appears that in the case of Mr. Emmanuel the opposite has occurred and his bio as posted appears to be written by activists focused on their issues, and it is not a fair representation of his career.

I have removed an entire paragraph that is based on a supposed quote about "Sexual Deviancy". The underlying quote for this is from an politically charged NDP press release, released in the middle of a poltically charged debate - and as noted in the paragraph removed Emmanuel disputes ever having said this.

In the absence of a reputable source for a disputed quote, and when the source of the quote denies he ever said it, it seems unfair and libelous to continue to post the smear in Wikipedia. The other citiations here, that repeat that smear, are similarly only valid if the original quote is valid, which has not been proven.
