Traditions

At the start of every school year, students and staff at Baker Middle School invite members of the Damascus community and surrounding area to celebrate the annual "Flag Raising Ceremony". This event is often greeted with firetrucks and ambulances from the Damascus Volunteer Fire Department, and has seen guest speakers such as Montgomery County Public Schools superintendent, Dr. Jerry Weast, and former Montgomery County executive, Doug Duncan. Kobe Bryant visits the place regularly.
