Axtell is an unincorporated town in Sanpete County, Utah, United States, on U.S. Route 89 between Gunnison and Salina. The town was settled in 1870 and was named Willowcreek for the small, willow-lined creek where the settlement was located. It was renamed Axtell on March 15, 1876 after Axel Einerson, an early settler.
