The Amity Affliction is an Australian post-hardcore band from Brisbane, Queensland, formed in 2002. The band is composed of lead vocalist Joel Birch, bassist Ahren Stringer, keyboardist Trad Nathan, drummer Ryan Burt, with guitarists Troy Brady and Clint Splattering.The Amity Affliction has released 1 studio album,2 EPs, 1 demo and fetured on 3 compilations.
The band released two extended plays before releasing their debut studio album in 2008, entitled Severed Ties, the album spent a week on the Australian Albums Chart at number 26.[1]

Severed Ties:2008-10
The band released their debut studio album in 2008, entitled Severed Ties, the album spent a week on the Australian Albums Chart at number 26.[1].The Amity Affliction played numerous shows across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. During May 2009, they supported The Getaway Plan along with Perth band Elora Danan, on The Getaway Plan's national Finale Tour.[2] The Amity Affliction undertook a headlining tour across Australia in 2009. They also played the 2009 Stairway to Hell Tour across Australia with support from UK band We Are the Ocean and Melbourne band Hopeless, with a local support band for each city. During the tour, Joel Birch announced that they would be taking some time off following the tour to record a second album. The band also toured the UK with We Are the Ocean.
New Album and Tour:2010
The Band is writing and recording a second studio album that will be released in june/july of 2010. The Amity Affliction is set to tour the east coast of Australia in the summer of 2010, alongside Break Even and American band Burning Empires on the Endless Bummer Tour.
