Magnius

Magnius is a fictional character from the role playing game,Tales of Symphonia, made by Namco.

Magnius is one of the Desian Five Grand Cardinals and ruler of the Palmacosta Human Ranch. He is most well-known for his brute force and an overuse of the word "vermin".

Lloyd and his friends meet with Magnius when he was present in the failed exceution of Chocolat's mother. Magnius then gloats about being the leader of the Grand Cardinals once he got Lloyd's exsphere. He attempts to harms the party with having one of his men cast fireball. Genis intercepts the magic attack by using force field. Angered by this humliation, Magnius gives the order to exceute Chocolat's mother. Having to save the mother, Colette uses one of her charkhams to cut the ropes. While Magnius and his men are suprised by this action, Kratos takes the opportunity to deal a blow towards Magnius. Wounded, Magnius and some of his men retreat while the rest of them handled the party. The pary, of course, wins.

The party meets with Magnius again at the Palmacosta ranch. He reveals that it was Genis and Lloyd who had killed Chocolat's grandmother, Marble. Grive striken, Chocolat refused any help from her so-called heroes and was again captured by the Desians. Magnius orders the capture of the party. When the party held them off, a mad Magnius goes off and challenges them. The battle then begins.

Magnius is backed up by three of his men who posed no threat to the party. Magnius himself uses fire-based attacks such as hell hound, flame lance and occasional beast. After taking out his men, Magnius poses no threat and falls. The battle ends.

After the battle, Magnius is in disbelief of his defeat. Kratos explains that Colette is the chosen one. Magnius then says "I was decieved" then falls. Raine procceds to release the trapped captives and starts the self destruct sequence.

Magnius attempts to contact Forcystus but Rodyle, another Grand Cardinal, cuts him off. He thanks Magnius for his use of his resources and gald collecting. His last words before the ranch explodes were "Lord Yaggdrasil, glory to the coming age of half elves."

Magnius is somewhat of a bully and uses his power against weaker foes. However he is a loyal servant f Yaggdrasil and will go for the rights of half elves. But because he uses his power more than his brain, that is his undoing in the end.

Boss Battle

Magnius's style of fighting is true to his personality: he will constantly try to beat the enemy down with physical force. He is supported by two Desian troops; a Bowman and a Whip Master. Magnius carries a huge ax-like weapon in one hand and an equally large hooked shield in the other. His magical techniques draw power from the Fire element.

Attacks:

• Beast - a forceful push that blows the target away. True to its name, the move briefly conjures up a silhouette of a lion's head.

• Eruption - lava surrounds the target.

• Flame Lance - a sword of fire shoots down onto the target, creating a small blast.

• Hell Axe - Magnius slashes the target with his weapon, leaving a trail of fire.

• Hell Hound - Magnius generates a ball of fire in front of him, which then explodes.
