Palotina is a city and municipality in western Paraná state. The population is 28,966 inhabitants.

History

Settlement in the area started in 1953, when Companhia Pinho e Terras started to colonize the area. The settlement begun to grow, and in July 25, 1960 attained the status of municipality. The time goes on and the city became larger and larger every day. By the 1960's to 1980's, the economy (basically agricultural) alternate between mint, corn, wheat and soybean. Actually, Palotina is a near 30k inhabitants municipality with a agroindustrial economy and a hopeful future.

Climate

The climate is Subtropical Cfa (according Köppen classification). It is caracterized by umid and warm summers and dry and cold winter.
